kwango Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 hi i fly in the west durham amalgamation and we basket tomorrow for saturdays race from folkestone. but. the up north combine basket on friday and they are at folkestone as well. our pigeons have to spend the night in the garage at there place. when the up north combine pigeons spend the night in there lofts. do you think that is fair as we all get let up together from folkestone. i cant understand the people who run this organisation surely you would think that the pigeons welfare is there first concern. why cant we basket on a friday aswell its only right if we are to compete with other organisations as we are. a night in the loft is beter than a night in a basket stuck in a garage. so come on get it sorted out.you who run this wda
greenlands Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 What reason do the fed give for basketting on Thusrday and are you the only one's who do this.I could understand it if the birds were being transported on the night ???????? Lindsay PS.What time do the UNC basket on Friday it's got to be very early to get the birds on site and settled.
Guest bigda Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 totaly agree there mate, :oall in the basket, all in the garage :othursday for them also
rooster Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 i think its all wrong we basket Friday morning pigeons get picked up around dinner time , i think its the same at Bourges you go Tuesday and we go Wednesday and both liberate Friday ,
REDCHEQHEN Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 It should be Thursday for everybody all the UNC have to basket during the day for combine races - a working mans sport - I don't think so I can't even get the proposition passed at club level never mind higher so as the UNC have about 9 combine races - thats 9 days holiday to use up for people working - just to basket the birds - never mind the holdovers - some people can't get the holidays and rely on others to basket their birds for them the WDA have got it right
Guest Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 i dont know the ins and outs of this but can i sugest that the reason is the durham amal officals think its right to basket there birds on a thursday to suit its members(working man ) and also allow the pick ups to go on when fanciers are their to help arranging something this size must be a nightmare is this the 45 thousand birds ? sometime things cant be 100% perfect for something this size
kwango Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 so our pigeons have to have a night in the basket when the unc pigeons stay in the loft. is this not an unfair advantage
Guest Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 not saying its fair just saying maybe your officals think its what best suited the maj. of its members why not ask them why?
Guest Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 You can't please everyone especially a woman ;D ;D ;D
gangster Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 so our pigeons have to have a night in the basket when the unc pigeons stay in the loft. is this not an unfair advantage i think its totally unfair it needs addressing and putting right..

kwango Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 our club get out voted every time what ever we ask for it gets knocked back they take no notice what we say as we havant got enough votes so we get out voted every time
the pigeon_milker Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 its unfair and wrong for the birds all the ones in the basket the day before will be battering each other very time they are disturbed for 24 hours more than the others that it self must stress them out more + food & water controlled by them must have its toll on the birds ability to perform on the day
ALF Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 It will be interesting to see how the 2 organisations do racing aginst eachother and i think it will be well worth the members taking note if they think it's against them so they can go to the AGM with facts & figures about the race ;)
Guest Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 our club get out voted every time what ever we ask for it gets knocked back they take no notice what we say as we havant got enough votes so we get out voted every time i know how you feel but thats the vote! that is what the maj. wanted how would you feel if you couldnt get time off work to get the birds away thats not fair either so as redcheq says you cant please them all
kwango Posted May 6, 2009 Author Report Posted May 6, 2009 glad someone has seen sense you are bang on with what you have said its only common sense. cheers
REDCHEQHEN Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 It will be interesting to see how the 2 organisations do racing aginst eachother and i think it will be well worth the members taking note if they think it's against them so they can go to the AGM with facts & figures about the race ;) There's 4 Alf UNC, WDA, DC and NNA I don't know what the basket arrangements are for the others
ALF Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 There's 4 Alf UNC, WDA, DC and NNA I don't know what the basket arrangements are for the others Same thing applies
peterpau Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Well it certainly don't seem right or fair, but good birds will still perform well at the distance after several days in the basket. I'd be inclined to have some thing to say but ? Cost and time will be a major influence. I wouldn't be happy but I'd still send.
Roland Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Before voicing an oppinion, I'd like to know the oficial reason for such. Example WHY is it convientent for the birds to be shipped Thursday? Must be a reason. Personally I'd feel my birds would be far better suited for this - Natural! But the simple reality is, IF your Fed could get them - and is able to take for Basketing Friday with the others it may well be the case of it being in place all ready. Let's face it, it is just a matter of 'Checked and Seal' baskets being lifted onto the convoyer :-/ Has your Fed made this this own thing in the past because it suited the FED as a whole? :-/
