HOMER49 Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 did you back him at the meeting Homer??? Hi Alan If you mean Jim Hannah YES to the hilt His sole objective each week was to have maximum returns and the welfare of the birds And that Alan is good enough for me Cheers Homer 49 Was also told that he was asked to reconsider
ALF Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Hi Alan If you mean Jim Hannah YES to the hilt His sole objective each week was to have maximum returns and the welfare of the birds And that Alan is good enough for me Cheers Homer 49 Was also told that he was asked to reconsider to tell you the truth i thought he was hung out to dry by our fed president as he is the 1 that makes the big decisions and should have made sure the birds were at the race point and then jim could have done his job
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 guys this is not a campaign to bring back jim hannah but i dont see any posts budgie giving his side of things so once again we are left with no explanation Don,t think he has to explain himself at all George and especially not on a website, as far as i'm concerened it was a good race as many have already said, i believe myself the erratic race came from percy to start of with then at the home end the pigeons were shut out at Moffat. , which would explain why more than 90% of the pigeons came from the North fighting back against a head wind into Lanarkshire. Four still to come from me out of 68 and i think i could have picked 3 of the 4 that would have stuggled with the other one being a latebred.
jonl6280 Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 7 to come from 39 our controller messed up bigtime where he gets 90percent returns god only knows he let them go up with a english fed chancer or what well maybe your sevn still to come are sh}te!!!! ;D

Guest Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 gareth i dont see where an erratic race can become a good race considering the losses and as for moffat look at amap hotrod has got it right

Guest Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Jim Hannah Back THE RACE CONTROLER DONE A GOOD JOB.IT WAS THE RACE POINT THAT WAS IN QUESTION SHOULD HAVE BEEN RIPON. ;) ;)
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 gareth i dont see where an erratic race can become a good race considering the losses and as for moffat look at amap hotrod has got it right It was an erratic race to start with but the positives are that the pigeons have had many hours on the wing which they have not had in the last 12 fed races which generally have been no more than 1 1/2 to 3 hours and returns have finished very good to fair. Know the maps pretty well George, so i will post for those that dont. ;) With the pigeons liberated at 07.00 in a 7 MPH south south west wind the pigeons would have kept a reasonably straight line of flight as the vels showed the winners flying 50 MPH ++.
kelly tom Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Gareth my friend there is no way on Gods Earth that the pigeons would take the line that you are showing they would not fly over the Pennines .I have been travelling up to Scotland from Yorkshire for the last 25 years and i have never seen a pigeon on my travels over the A66.
Guest bigda Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 i would agree there mate the lost birds are in the Dundee area and as far as Aberdeen the birds gathered momentum at some stage of the race, as the peterhead birds and around where doing 1600 ypm, and some of the early or late, hard to say but must asume the early birds went on by and they wouldn't face turning into the wind
kelly tom Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Bigda the Lanakshire pigeons would come straight up from Leeds through the Vale of York to the East of us is the Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors to the West of leeds is the Pennines.Ask the members of our club myself included how many Scottish strays we get in during racing i have fed and watered dozens in a season and gave them a helping hand back up the road.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Tom it is a treacherous area for the pigeons and i do believe that pigeons will be pushed by the wind, but with little or next to no wind surely the pigeons would have kept a enough straight line through Appleby and Carlisle and added to the fact that with the wind being south the pigeons should have gained good hight above the lower part of the Pennines which is at the start, remember the pigeons were doing it a fast speed ( well some) so surely the pigeons cant come up to the breaking point east of the Pennines and then break for home. If pigeons dont fly from A to B when there is no wind then what route would the pigeons have taken if it is was an East Wind. cheers Gareth
kelly tom Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Gareth I live 40 minutes North of Leeds Davy Hannah phoned me on Saturday morning to see what the weather was like here it was a lovely morning with a light south wind imo your birds came up though the Vale of York and headed up through the Durham area.
Guest bigda Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 how many English feds or clubs where north of Wakefield at around 7.0 7.30, 8 am and liberated as there are Scottish birds reported in the west, Chester area
