Guest Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 In green countryside or built up town, From break of dawn. ‘til the sun goes down, For hundreds of years you would always hear, The sound of songbirds, would bring you cheer. High in the sky the song of the Lark, Thrushes singing in the park, Bullfinches feeding on winter berries, Robins feasting on ripened cherries. A Chaffinch chorus at first light, Nightingales singing into the night, Lapwings calling in the Lea, A Mallard with her brood to see. Down country lanes the Lapwings sound, And high above Jackdaws circle round, House Sparrows chirping from their rooftop rest, In the garden hedge, a Blackbirds nest. Now all gone in recent years, What is the reason for our fears? They say that a change in habitat, Is the reason behind that. But we know that is not the reason why, And that is just a bare faced lie, ‘Cos we know that the reason be THE PERIGRINE AND RSPB.
