hotrod Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 As i posted before the eastbourne/maidstone race's at weekend i had stated that most birds would not be ready /fit enough/enough hours on wing to fly 350/450 miles in a head wind ,how does the members think the pigeons will cope flying 550/ 650 miles this weekend in a north east wind which is forecast for friday ,me i think if the birds struggled to home at eastbourne and maidstone god knows how their going to do at alencon/reims ,but good luck to ALL WHO ENTER THESE TWO RACES BOTH THE SNFC AND THE SNRPC .

Guest stb Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 my birds didnt struggle at maidstone. they have been thumbing a lift since sat morn, unfortunatley nobody has stopped tae give them a lift. seriously there will be birds that will be fit and will cope with it gauranteed. well prepared and not relying on the fast club racing that they have had all year. if there not fit dont send em
hotrod Posted June 22, 2009 Author Report Posted June 22, 2009 listen theres a difference between training fit and race fit and the birds need race fit ,what i mean by this is between 8 and 10 hrs on wing in a steady race not 50/60 mile an hour blow homes , the real national men will know what i mean
Guest stb Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 no what you mean but there will be birds thats had 10 hours or more fly from some of the races already and will come into form way it , but would say hard for most birds this weekend
Guest Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 i know its a long range forecast just now but if its right there will be no racing from france frid or sat the channel is covered with mist and rain in nothern france channel ans south coast doesnt look good just now
Guest Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 the weathear is changing slowly for the better but still too early to say but just now sun looks the best bet with south winds
Delboy Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Just back from Uddingston, around 300 birds were sent. Birdage is down on last year but Im sure the nerves will be jingling with all who entered. Good luck to everyone in the number one race of the year.
budgie Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Stuart did you send and how many do you think will go..Good luck to all and its going to be a Testing Weekend if last week is anything to go by.
JADE Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 just seen the alencon entry on Ians post. very disappointing. where have all the birds gone? whats the reims entry like?
thunderbigbaws Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 just seen the alencon entry on Ians post. very disappointing. where have all the birds gone? whats the reims entry like? to maney inland nationals. SNFC supose to be along distance flying club.
Delboy Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 to maney inland nationals. SNFC supose to be along distance flying club. my thoughts exactly
rembrant2coo Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 my thoughts exactly 2 HARD RACES DEREK ,FOR THE TWO INLANDS AS WELL
JADE Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 well there are only 2 inland nationals and eastbourne is on the weekend when almost every fed in scotland went to the south coast anyway so cant see how that would affect the alencon entry. 5000 birds at eastbourne proves what the majority want
Taylorsloft Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 not sent myself but best of luck to all who sent
blueman Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 anyone seen a forecast pigeons uo tomorrow do we think?
Guest stb Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 quite hard when eastbourne week before alencon. if it had been couple weeks back you may have got some more. with eastbourne only last sat and a hard race most 0f the 5000 convoy that returned will be out for a while
Novice Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 well there are only 2 inland nationals and eastbourne is on the weekend when almost every fed in scotland went to the south coast anyway so cant see how that would affect the alencon entry. 5000 birds at eastbourne proves what the majority want Some of the longer inland races have been difficult this year with birds returning well flown or not returning at all. Losses and birds which do not recover in time must effect the birdages at the 500 mile plus races.
JADE Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 what i am saying is the longest inland race for most feds was always the week before the gold cup and did not affect the entry. the losses at newbury and wanstead flats will have had some effect. weather doesnt look good for a race tomorrow. saturday is possible

When I said longer inland races I meant even races from 30th May. We were at Leicester that weekend and losses were about 30% for most federations. I am sure a few 500 mile candidates were amongst them. This was a poor weekend for most.
Guest shadow Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 anyone seen a forecast pigeons uo tomorrow do we think? thunderstorms along the south coast and northern france
