sapper756 Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Now that the 2009 season is well over, was wondering if any members would like to share, any mistakes/regrets they made during this season, and how they plan to overcome these in 2010? :-/
Blue Chequer Pied Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 I made a mistake with my darkness birds. Put them on it too late and probably wasn't dark enough. Never tried it before and been out of the game for a few years so didn't really have a clue. Will be better prepared next year. But as they say a mistake is not a failure as long as you learn from it. Paul.

fletch Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 massive regret with the roundabout system had cocks on perches and hens in boxes got it totally wrong should of been the other way round and ended up losing some good birds and one great pigeon, realised what was wrong and went better when switched but did win a few later races with old birds and 2 water races, BUT WHAT MIGHT OF BEEN, least young birds were verry good this year
just ask me Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 mine kept a cock racing that should have been put in stock he had won a lot himself and bred winners :'(
raffles Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 sent a blue hen to the national too soon after wanstead flats
vanreets Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 i think i see another great tread
Guest mick bowler Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Made loads of mistakes, but never have any regrets, you cant change the past only the future.
Guest Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Regretted racing YB's lesson learn't and response is not to race them next year but stick to old birds only. :'( :'(
Guest Owen Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 I made a huge mistake. I've always liked experimenting and it is rare form me not to make changes each year. This year I changed my widowhood system and it was a disaster. I was last once and last but one once. Worse still the birds were not bouncing and happy as they normally are. I reverted back to my normal system after four races. The birds immediately responded and got better and better untill they were back to their winning form. I have learned my lesson. They will not be messed about like that again. Mind you I have made some quite drastic changes to the loft since old bird racing. Happy days!!
hepste Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 At the beginning of the year, I sent a batch of 20 "spare" birds, for their 1st toss, at 20 miles, in unsuitable weather, and off line of flight they were used to. Some were experienced birds. Most never returned. Never be complacent with your pigeons.
vanreets Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 ITS ALL ABOUT LEARNING THOUGH ;) SO IN A WAY NO ONE GOT IT WRONG JUST DIFFERNT
schouwman71 Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 big mistake i made this year was with darkness, first year doing it and i think it was a big mistake just taking them straight off it instead of slowly doing it,my y/birds got respitory and lost some top pigeons through training when they werent upto it,got respitory proplems sorted out and started them off at 128mls for there first race, flying very well for the remainder young bird races, you live and learn, and only get better.roll on april 2010. les
blaz Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 i was that happy with my ob so did not put enough time in to my yb,s.so when birds got home from race seen me in garden doing my Scottish version of a possessed spaniard with maracas . looked and thought no chance of me going near him. all bar one .also when in yb secsion birds flying all about with fright.so next year i will be putting a lot more time in to my yb,s . as i said all bar one her .she also got my best result in fed all be it only 15th .
john bingham Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 ive made many i hope ive learned from them i hope an fresh start save an buy an couple of nice birds and race em and enjoy my birds most of all
