DJW FORGET ABOUT LERWICK YOU WOULD GET 170 WE 130MILES ANY OTHER POINT OVER WATER WOULD SEND BUT DAVIE I DONT THINK THE SNFC HAS HAD A BAD RACE FROM BELGIUM EVEN YPRES WITH A FEW HUNDRED BIRDS THERE WAS GOOD RETURNS LEIGH WAS A GOOD RACE OK ITS NOT SO FAR BUT ITS FAIRER THAN INLAND RACES WHICH I AM SORRY SHOULD BE FOR FED RACING ONLY  ROBBIE IT WILL FINISH UP HAVING TO CHANGE AND ONE WAY IS TO GET OVER WATER RACES THAT NEW STARTERS HAS A CHANCE OF TIMING A BIRD BUT CERTAINLY NOT EASTBOURNE FLYING NEARLY 200MILES THAN FIRST DROPS WITH ADDITIONAL  NAIL IN THE COFFIN AGAINST SPRINTERS

walter i agree with you about eastbourne being a sprint for some but its 489 mile to me . also the leige race was a good race as the late george ritchie proved do you know the reason we never went back after having good racing from there im sure its 570 mile to me.

WELL ROBBIE THATSWHAT I CANT UNDERSTAND LILLE IS IN PAR WITH LIEGE JUST ON THE BORDER I REMEMBER I HAD  ON THE ROOF TOGETHER ITHINK THERE WAS ABOUT 12 ON THE DAY INTO FRASERBURGH WITHIN HALF AN HOUR NEVER WENT BACK MAYBE NOT FAR ENOUGH FOR THE SOUTH SEC BUT AGAIN A GOOD RACE I KNOW THE EASTBOURN IS 484MILES UP HERE BUT LILLE IS 530MLS AND GIVES AN EXTRA 50 MLS TO THE SOUTH AND THERES A BARRIER SO GO FOR IT

DJW CAN YOU CALL IT A NATIONAL FROM NEWBURY JUST TAKE A LOOK AT LAST YEARS NEWBURY JOHN HUNTER TIMED A CRACKER AT 17 30 WITH A 9am LIB 160TH OPEN SOME FANCIERS TIMING  6 AND 7 BIRDS AT 260MILES WHAT GLORY DID JHON GET 1ST SEC 160thopen what bird do you think was best in the race i know BUT THIS HAPPENS EVERY RACE YOU WILL NEVER GET AN EVEN PLAYING FIELD {BUT SURLY IF YOU CALL IT A NATIONAL YOU MUST PUT AN OBSTICAL IN FRONT OF ALL BIRDS GLENCAMERON WERE SHARING NOW SO WHATS THE DIFFERENCE OF COUPLING UP WITH ALL RACES THAT WAY YOU WILL GET SNRPC AND SNFC TOGETHER RITCHIE 1 ARE YOU NOT GETTNG FAR ENOUGH DISTANCE IN OUR FED FOR NATIONAL RACES :)

 

The best bird in this year's Newbury race was the winner, simple as that and of course Newbury is a national race

newbury is a sprint for some fanciers ,to me in central scotland its 334 i think  ive put the same blue hen the last 3 years getting 123,166 and 234 open newbury,ive had a few good men in front of me and all the best to them all but we still need the inland national it gets birds fitter for the longer races 400+ some one is got to win the newbury race whether it be a sprint or long distance bird they deserve it

how can it be the best bird if it was 160th open. i cant understand your logic. you dont want inland nationals and you want to drop the longest race. the way things are going there will be under 1000 birds for the gold cup in a few years (maybe even next year) will you want to drop that next? why not have the gold cup from tours and drop alencon

must agree with walter on this one newbury is a sprint for the south lads through no fault of theres . this year from eastbourne i was 2nd section but not on the open result its to easy of racing for the south lads not enough distance also last year walter got 1 from eastbourne at 9 at night i think and i could be wrong but didnt get a ticket . i thought when we talk about national racing your testing your birds against the best at distance with the inland newbury especialy its not happening so we maybe should look into coupling up with the snrpc .

 

if you didnt get on the open result it was because your bird wasnt good enough. look at the result there were loads of early birds into dundee and angus and at 1100 velocity wouldnt call it "easy racing for the south lads"

I myself would like to see an end to inland nationals,the scottish national flying club was made for channel racing.give me alencon tours and ypes or clermont falaise whatever.i also think the yb national is not long enough to us(maybe im not thinking of the longer flyers here)but we used to fly 220 miles into the south.everything in the snfc is getting shorter.

Thank you all that have posted, I believe the overall view is that we still need the inland nationals and at least 3 channel races. I will take this to the SNFC meeting today and the management committee will then make a recommendation for the race programme to the AGM.
