bewted Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 a little while ago on here everyone moaning about ets getting in back door and should not have been allowed,,,,,now on here is opposite, now want to get rid of the toulet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,what a joke the pigeon fancier is becoming,,,,,niether here, niether there,,,,,,no blooming where !!!!
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 I do appreciate Bewted that ETS has just been passed in England as of 2008 but it has been passed in Scotland for 6 years and it is a natural progression for the sport in Scotland to take to banning Toulets as there plenty of STB's lying on shelf's not being used that could be given to Toulet users which would also be far more user friendly to new starts within the sport.
showman Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 The Toulet may be a museum piece, but it still has its' part to play in modern day pigeon racing....purely on a cost effective basis. Let's be honest, a cheap clock for a new starter will probably be the only cost effective thing they encounter !!
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Yep, but as a wise man said, 'All truth needs a bit of the bevy (Achahole tic tic hee ) .... because the truth is so much more forth coming. Indeed the truth will out'1 And yes I might be nissed, but I feel for those that can't afford, and I certainly don't laugh at them and that's for sure. Indeed I wouldn't use my ET until it is a level playing field for all.... I.e, All those that want one has one! But then that's just me. Sorry to hear you cant speak the truth until you have had a drink anyway regards to some of your comments, neither would i laugh at a member who could not afford a stb, t3 or ETS but its not a wealth thing that you seem to like to make out as most of the time it is just down to members choice which is generally because it is what they are use too. As to you comments regarding a level playing field, this will never happen which is a problem as there are many areas within the sport that this applies to, i.e. number of pigeons being sent, trapping systems, how many in a partnership, loft location etc etc, so get off your Horse and stop swigging from the hip flask.
Oldpigeonclocks Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Hi Guys, I really can't believe you are still using the clocks I collect. Someone said They were good 50 years ago so what is wrong with them now? Well easy, they are 50 years older now! Clocks becoming on age will become less accurate. Especially the Toulet with dials. You buy a good serviced, like new T2 for 50 GBP and a like new T3 for 80GBP. Is that really too much for accuracy in the sport?

Hi Gerwin hope you are well,Its not the fact that the toulets are old or are less accurate than the more modern clocks,I would say that most are used by the older members of the sport and they just dont want to change.
Tony C Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 This day and age I dont think it right that a clock can gain/lose 5 seconds per hour and still be acceptable. The clock running varience should be tightened right up. I've not got a problem with someone using an old clock just as long as its a very good time keeper.

The only toulet that is used in our club occasionally is a better time keeper than one of our members T3s.
pjc Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 there is another way to look at this, forget the arguement about which clock is more acurate, we know the answer to that one! If a young lad has been keeping a few birds in his garden etc for a couple of years, he may be at school and has caought the pigeon bug and wants to try and racce a few. He finds his local clubs, gets the information he needs. One club say's you'll need ETS to fly with us the other club say's we use a mixture of clocks, i've even got this old toulet you can have to get you started until you can afford something better! Where do you think he's going to go? If both clubs had the same attitude then where would he go? Back to his garden to just enjoy his birds and become another member that never was or lost!
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 The only toulet that is used in our club occasionally is a better time keeper than one of our members T3s. T3 must be due a battery change which is usually done every 8-10 years if this is not the problem it requires to be sent back for repair, T3 should never be any more than a second out.
Tony C Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 The only toulet that is used in our club occasionally is a better time keeper than one of our members T3s. Tony would you be as happy if a clock run true laid on its side and in the standing position but laid on its back it gained upto 5 seconds per hour. This varience is allowed and in my eyes shouldn't be.
just ask me Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 correct a t3 should never be out needs to be sent back also there must be loads of stb t2 t3 lying around in clubs im sure if the member is stuck for a few pound the club could sell him the clock and the member pay a few pound a week or month i understand that a member should be able to choose which clock they want to use but i hear it on here often how do we make the sport more modern to suit the younger person well a toulet wont do that

Pigeon Man its not about ETS against Toulet clocks, for me it is about STB and T3's against the Toulet clock so dont believe that your scenario of ETS against Non-ETS clubs is best included in this topic as the sport should be about inclusion rather than exclusion, also the sport should be at a stage were this young lad should be getting offered an STB to use and not an old Toulet clock.
rembrant2coo Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 HAVE ANY THE APPROPRIATE UNIONS TAKING THIS CLOCK OF THE LIST OF CLOCKS , NOT TO BE USED , IF NOT I DON,T SEE WHAT ALL THE FUSS IS ABOUT ON THIS CLOCK , AS SOME ARE SAYING ON HERE, THERE IS SOME PEOPLE USING THEM YET, AND UNTIL THEY CAN,T USE THEM ANYMORE THROUGH THERE UNIONS OR FEDS,THEN END OF STORY .
Guest KING BILLY Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 whe all need to be verey carfule of dictators or sounding like one i can see the 2 sides of this topic but each to there own but its the clock setters that get all the problems wich go with these old clocks but tridision is not to be snesed at ;D ;D ;D ;D
joe61 Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 do clock setters not get paid to set clocks or do they just want to do the easy ones oh happy days
pjc Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 do clock setters not get paid to set clocks or do they just want to do the easy ones oh happy days most club clock setters do it for the benefit of the club and members not for financial gain! Marking stations for the Nationals are normaly the only ones who charge.
Guest KING BILLY Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 if you dont whant to set them dont be a clock setter but i dont think any one is in a position to say lets get rid of somones clock good or bad this is pigeon racing each to there own ;)
joe61 Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 pjc i notice you say most clubs so thats not 100% across the board king billy i agree if they dont want to set them then dont be a clock setter oh happy days

They are inaccurate clocks, inc one in my club which runs about 150 secs over 24 hours. 2. They can be read wrong by a few seconds at clock setting and checking. 3. Because they dont print the day on the dials, rules in some organisations are made round about them including one rule that clocks must be rum off within 23 hours which sometimes is very hard to enforce which if they were banned would make it easier for this rule to be scrapped. 4.Dials are more expensive than an STB roll or T3 running costs. 5. Basically i have seen the number STB, T3 clocks that are clogging up shelf's that could be put to good use rather than these dinosaurs. 6. If banned i for the life of me do not see anyone leaving the sport because of this which has been quoted in the thread earlier (poppycock). cheers Gareth
Beanz Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Time they were destined for the cupboard or bin whichever you prefer. Paul

Roland Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Well haven’t read the monologue of repeated twaddle yet that I spouted last night. Should have said quite simply any move that cause any hardship, or embarrassment that will, and does and has cause fanciers to leave the sport, often giving a false reason, should be shunned. I mean just who are we that we make unnecessary rules that only harm the sport. Who are we that we feel we have the right, they we should force the more unfortunate member to either upgrade, or get laughed, or feel ashamed. – Never mind the one that drinks his beer etc. So what, the pence he / she has if THEIR right to spend and afford as they can derive the most pleasure from. Old clock, so what! Will a new clock make their pigeons fly faster. Very many find the constant rising costs is affecting them. Wife’s know only too well, and they are quick quite often to say such cutting things as ‘Taking the food off the babies plate now are we, I mean do you really need a new clock’?! Simple answer is no. Then we will hear the fobbing of ‘Progress’! Well progress has most caused upset, unrest, lives and countless loss of jobs, and main to bolster the ‘Haves’ with a little bit more. For every one Good progress there has been a high price to pay. Not least in our so called sport. So an apology for coming over a bit strong, but I meant every word. Sadly I may have forgotten that though it is fine to disagree, it is not to be disagreeable. Yes lost three members last night we can ill afford. Yes at least another 4 will go… then the escalating costs will affect others and the vicious circle will continue. Soon the Fed will be just a big club. But I bet you all that there will still be the ‘Downers’ of the more affluent decrying those that they beat each week!
