alec guinness Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 do you know why Alf, all the top flying distance fliers are all gob shites, and don't work that way, what they do is send to steal prize money 20 birds at 50p max can steel £800 from the national, to pay for there hobby, plus sell birds to round it of for the year to amount to £5,000 a wee question for you how Manny national winning guys , have paid for doos there are none that i know of and would be very surprised if you could name any definately off to bed. ;D

Chris Little Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 A good question kicked off by Alf which has created a hearty debate However, to look at his question in another way.... how many fanciers pool in the Open??? I am gobsmacked at the number of fanciers who feature high up in the national results that dont pool in the Open.... what are they afraid of ??) ??)

As history has shown Chris it is not a good gamble for the guys in the west, would rather gamble that open money on a pigeon within section or region, can see though why you boys in the South would want to encourage us boys in the west :P
Guest IB Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 A good question kicked off by Alf which has created a hearty debate However, to look at his question in another way.... how many fanciers pool in the Open??? I am gobsmacked at the number of fanciers who feature high up in the national results that dont pool in the Open.... what are they afraid of ??) ??) Tried every race in the SNFC programme for the first time in 2009. What I did notice in 09 race results, apart that is from my name not being in most of them was the high proportion of Open pools won by South Section. Not been long enough in club to know if that is normal. Another factor was the seemingly more difficult conditions racing into Central Belt & North of Tay where many more managed it on the night into the South Section, I think you yourself posted on here on certain racedays that you'd heard of many timing more than one in your own Section, and not on Lib-Line, while hereabouts at least pigeons were scarcer than hens teeth. So unless the birds are 'on song' an Open bet for fanciers in any of the other Sections, is, with respect, in my own opinion, a fool's bet, as you've a better chance of greater return using that money pooling in your own Section & Region.

Chris Little Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Aint trying to kid anyone.... far from it, every national result you and I see there is always a handfull of excellent birds that haven't been pooled in the Open yet had they been they would have earned more coin..... However.... must admit I am a relatively light pooler, we only race for the sheer enjoyment of our sport. Willie Hills in Annan on a Saturday afternoon give me far better returns for ma money ;D ;D ;D

Chris, The South Section is very poor at pooling in their own section, with hardly any £20 poolers in all the SNFC races in 2009, also the National pools in Open competition is a poor gamble, as in years gone by, although I do appreciate there is less birds competing.
