blaz Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 a bereavement sale will be held in easthouses miners club on the 14th feb at 12 o'clock. for the sale of the late Rab Ritchies. birds clocks baskets ect. most of rabs birds where distance birds . i know he had birds from the newcombe family also kipps from frank shedder..will find out later to day of other strains he had. his birds still scored well at shorter races also toping the fed in midlothian. he won the yb cup in our club beating myself when i told him he said i am only intrested in national racing son you can have it if you want it.we all know it does not work that way R.I.P RAB RITCHIE

blaz Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 a few years ago the club myself and rab where in folded.so some of some us joined inveresk club. rab was a big strong man who i dont think knew his own strength.some Fridays he would grab me by the top of the arm and pull me to the side.then he would say remember son it is you and me against all them.meaning the other members in a friendly sort of way. rab will be missed but not the bruising on my arm .

knoxjn Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 many years ago rab gave me and my brother in law a young bird as we had just started it was a cracker so we didnt race it in the winter of that year he asked how it got on and we told him we didnt race he then proceeded to give us a row as all other birds that nest had won as young birds it went on to win leyland in the mighty tranent club and topped the fed as well great guy and a lifelong friend of jim whitson of j and g whitson fame never did get the stories of ther timein malta in the navy rest in peace mate a great pigeon man and a good friend
