lawrie Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 we get a 3% rise in pay and everything goes up in price...so does the wage rise count for anything?

Guest MIKE1957 Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 Fuel price will hit record high Petrol is due to reach an average price of £1.20 per litre, says the AA. Some forecourts in London have already hit the £1.20 mark, with others nationwide set to follow shortly. The rise comes because the wholesale price of petrol has increased consistently since the turn of the year. A planned rise in tax on petrol of 3p per litre is due to come into force on 1st April too, as the Government tries to raise more revenue during the recession. The price of a barrel of oil has risen by almost a fifth since January. However, because this increase was not passed on to the consumer all at once, forecourt prices will continue to rise. As usual, suppliers are being accused of raising prices far quicker than they lower them. The last time petrol was close to £1.20 per litre - during summer 2008 - the price of a barrel of oil was nearly $150. At present it's around $80. According to the AA, the average family now spends £52 per month more on fuel than it did this time last year.
