Guest WINGS 04 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 what do you class as a winner is it a bird that is first or gets a tickets
OLDYELLOW Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 a winner is just that a bird thats won 1st anything else i class as a minor card winner
Guest stb- Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 There can only be one winner, so i would say its a 1st, a prize winner is a placed bird in the allocation of prizes
pigeonpete Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 a winner is just that a bird thats won 1st anything else i class as a minor card winner Yes a winner is a winner, but i would class a top 10 section place, in a national or classic, and consistency, better than a one off winner in a club race with smallish birdages :-) but a winner is a winner :-)
Guest gladdo Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 a winner is a bird that wins a race .... i just bought a bird and his mother won out of 13.600 birds now she a winner . doesnt mean her youngster going to be a winner though... mikey
pjc Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 A winner is somebody who is consistantly at the top of his game, a winning pigeon is the one at the top of the result sheet.
Roland Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Well flying 80 miles in the East of the winner in a Westerly wind, say like in a National, is also a winner in my book. Indeed I often say the best bird on the day is not necessarily the winner!
owen101 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 at the minute not been in the game long so my winner is the bird that gets home near the same tme as a bird near the top
Tony C Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 A winner to me (and only me) is a pigeon that has put up a performance I'm proud of.
DOVEScot Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Surely it is all relevant to the task, the first bird back to your loft will be a winner. As a new member to racing I would be happy to get them back to my loft and even happier to be first back in my club, a lot happier if it was first back in my fed and ecstatic if it was fist back in a national. The further you climb up the ladder of success then the lower rungs don't count till you have to climb back down :-/
walterbmasson Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 i would say a winner ie 1st national 1st sec 1st fed 1st club you cant have a second pos as a winner its a runner up to winning bird as when you break your novice stature youve got to win ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
WHITTY Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 i your right there walter hope your paying heed cemetary :-/ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 a winner is a bird which won first place no other card matters
soapy Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 i agree with you walter, you cant say say won a race if you came second
greenlands Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 1st. Dorchester X 2. 1st.Messac. 1st.Fourgeres. His other twenty odd cards are just not winners. Lindsay.

Welcome to PB mate, well done on two first fed positions, good job you were using ETS if they'd been rubbers you would have been thrown out for two in one thimble (stupid RPRA rules) Lindsay.
clayton moore Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 No this wasnt me.I wish no it was a pal of mine.
demolition man Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 a winner is a bird which won first place no other card matters I disagree a fanciier flying in a small club may have many winners yet never gets in the fed, yet a fancier in a big club may get many cards in the fed, My point is which is the best bird a pigeon with 4 x 4th and 4 fed cards or a pigeon with 4 wins a no fed cards competing in the same races. jmo the one with fed cards is the better pigeon Regards

Maybe in some cases not such a stupid rule, have known people lose a race trying to get 2 rubbers in the same thimble.
whiteknight Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 So how would you class this cock he won 1st club,1st fed,1st breeder buyer race which was a open race.
