Atmospherics were not right yesterday. With Earthquakes recorded by the Seismologisis as the Largest in 34 yrs in Wales tells us that the homing ability will be affected. For the controller he done what he thought was in the best interest of your pigeons and on this rare occosian got it wrong. For those that are not involved in the race  leave the Officals to do their own Post Race Inquistions and lets hope the returns get better as the day goes on.

o home out of 3 i think the controller done the right thing rather than have birds locked up for the best part of eighty hours

i`m sure your 3 unfortunate doos would agree as they huddled on a roof last night in pi..in rain and a cold east wind not having been fed for near 36 hours. hope you get them home. my sympathy to the controller as well what looked a wise decision seems to have backfired. hope he doesnt get crucified for it

I think it is fair to say that the controller had only the birds welfare in mind hence the decision to let go on Friday at 1130, surely on the basis of this and the forthcoming weather it was his only option.

I only have 1 out of 6 back so far but look at the returns over in the East P.Virtue 10 home on the night ?

Not only are there "National" birds racing there are also the Fed birds a lot of which will not be able to complete the Fed program but I agree with letting the birds away as I would rather have them flying than confined to a crate from Thursday until Monday even Tuesday The controller made a decision based on current information and rightly or wrongly he tried to give the birds an even chance.

North of Scotland last week scorching sunshine this week snowmen that's the "British" weather for you. :( :( :(

Is the result made yet or are they still waiting on birds coming at.

ive now got 6out of ten yes it looks as if some areas got locked out by the rain but he checked his line of flight and went with the weather forcast the rain was meant to clear to the west but it took longer than it should have anyone that has controled races will know what iam talking about some times you have to weigh up the whole situation and yes when forced take a chance that something goes your way lets face it 4/5days in the basket wing cramp etc. or one with fresh birds i know what i would have done exactly what he did lets face some would not have made it at 350mls and are we paying the price for all the *expletive removed* winders we have had all season or do we not count that and just sack the controller i would rather get a nose wind here than from france at least they will get the chance to work home and if treated correctly it wont do them much harm didnt here much complaints yesterday before they went onle 1

Think it's wrong to criticise race controller - given the miles the birds have to fly and the changeable weather en-route, wasn't it always going to be a sticky one, no matter the day? I didn't know about the earthquake in Wales.  :) There's no prior warning of them and birds do sense these things.

Rain was also supposed to clear to west of England early today too, that's why I thought I would be a racing today. Well it didn't clear & I didn't get a race.

Well done to all who timed, and for those who didn't, hope you do better next time round; and don't lose confidence, birds will still be trying their best to get home.

I don't disagree with what you are saying but I think you need to be more specific to prove that you are not talking 98% sh** to impress the more gullible amongst us.

I am not convinced that there is a link between an earth tremor and what I would call "atmospherics". I appreciate that an earth tremor may interfere with homing ability.

I wonder what we actually mean when we talk about atmospherics---is it a build up of static electricity in the atmosphere for example.

Can we measure the paramaters which are undesireable?

Can we draw limits to say that above this level we should not liberate?

If we can resolve these issues then we are on our way towards better racing.

When I first started using this site a year ago we were often given a link to a chart which predicted poor racing. I have not seen reference made to this in some time.

It would be interesting to see what it predicted for the last 3 weekends.

It would be good to debate this .
