blaz Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 depending on whare you are .the only way is to shoot them
b.massey Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 Never had crows attack my birds. I like crows around my loft area actually cause they always chase the BOP
Guest IB Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 Agree with previous posts; I too have crows around which help keep the hawks away, but one of those crows turned on my birds last year for no apparent reason, attacking OBs whenever they landed on the loft, and I did try to shoot it / have it shot - I don't think you have any alternative, you've got to take it out as others might copy it, as a sort of game.
REDROCKET Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 ive says on here before where i work the crows kill and eat adult pigeons they ambush them and eat them alive (sorry) get the gun out if they do it once they'll not stop
sapper756 Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 I,ve witnessed at first hand the dreadful damage carrion crows can do to a loft, killing pigeons and even going into the loft and taking youngsters out of their nest bowls, images of birds on windows attempting to escape the crows, :-/
cheeseman Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 you are right bwf ,but only if they are a nusence,i have a pair nesting nxt to the loft and they keep the sparrahawks at bay, once they sound the alarm im ready for them

Guest youngzimmy Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 REDROCKET get a scare crow AYE THE WIFE
Guest Owen Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 This is a very mixed blessings. The crows will keep the sparrowhawk away. On the other hand if they are coming to your loft you have no alternative, they have to go. A Larsen Trap will not catch crows. If you decide on trapping them you will need a ladder trap. The best bait will be what they are taking. You'll know what that is. I think, if it were me, I would shoot them and finish with it.

Novice Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 larsons do trap crows i use lots on my shoot all you do is make a dummy nest and put eggs in once have caught that one use it as a call bird I've never caught a crow in mine but then I never have any in the garden. I have, however caught magpies and jackdaws in a Larssen trap.
Roland Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 Think you best syringing a egg with Anti Freeze.
ch pied Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 Think you best syringing a egg with Anti Freeze.yes roly , do this to clean up the magpie's & crow's , the old stuff is best , pure ethylene glycol , sweet & sticky , the new anti-freeze on the market hesen't the same effect
Guest MOSAIC2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 The crows have never bothered my birds before but this year they are relentless can i not shoot a crow without a licence?
Roland Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 Of course you can As long as the neighbours don't mind... humanly culled. If a good shot I guess that is humanly done... if not, then perhaps not so human. Any way, yer'd only get one or two shots in. As soon as you point anything else at them they'll gone .... just out of range, and work in pairs or more.
Guest MOSAIC2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 What if i climb the tree and remove there nest will they go away
