I had a clydebank y/b in last week and when i phoned the guy on sunday at 2 pm he only had 1 out of 10 at the time and his mate 3 out of 24...They ended the night 4 from 10 and 8 from 24 :o

I tossed the y/b in Kirky on sunday and it never made it back either :D :D :D

Alf, heard the clydebank sec only had 9 out of 29 don't know if he has had any since but it has effectively put a large dent in my young bird season

heard  a few  people say st Boswell site ain't that good,  i wonder  why, as  like hexam that we are about to fly from in 2 weeks has it own  problems , i have looked at the site before and felt it was in a  basin type area, that looked  as if  birds heading north  westerly,  had to climb,  immediately from release  something  they have never done on training trips before

and should they  hit percy on the way up, :o  the returns will  be limited

Glasgow were at St Boswells on the Sunday weather was fine you may well be right (as others have said) lonely sky ideal for "percy" the unfortunate thing for us our last three races were from Cockenzie and returns were good but it is way out on the East Coast so St Boswells is on a different line of flight so do our birds fly north then due West as one Denny fancier remarked to me Glasgow birds go over his loft on race days. It would be interesting to fit GPS and see where the get their line home. ours North,West and then due North again  pure supposition on my part but they will not fly over the Kilpatrick hills and head for Dumbarton and then up the Leven Valley adds miles to their journey

I'm quite interested in the route too. On the same tack as Kilpatrick Hills, seems birds will not cross Pentland Hills either, ours skirt to the east and dog-leg into our area;  Lanarkshire pigeons have also been noted by my own club members to come by way of Falkirk (from 'Edinburgh') and track down the Forth & Clyde Canal, which may give some weight to the 'theory' that these birds hit Lanarkshire Fed from the North of their area. Did spot a rubber-rung Lanarkshire pigeon here last Saturday evening, and have seen a few over the years, so they are deffo coming this way off east coast racepoints.

Next two weeks from Otterburn.

Last week Lanarkshire went up on Saturday we didn't basket until Saturday evening Aberdeen were also at St Boswells but not sure when they went up we were up Sunday at 9-30am with no apparant hicups and weather was fine at the home end. I think Percy may well be the problem and the birds scattered it will be interesting to see how many are reported all my birds carry a blue tel.no ring 01389 .I now have 5 back out of 18

otterburn is not a move. it always has been the intended race this week as per agreed at agm. it takes around 45 mins to travel to otterburn from st boswells on the a68. same road when we leave the road at the new dalkeith bypass. as to the route the birds take no one knows as no scientific surveys have ever been done. sunday past the glasgow fed toppers are in the west of the fed. the wind at liberation was fresh west west southern. the aberdeen fed liberated at 9.00am and cleared immediately from the liberation site. i was with the glasgow and renfrew doos.

As Ive said on another thread St Boswells for no apparent reason is a dodgy place to train our Pigeons. Either go past or lib before and you get a good toss but lib on the Green and you get a sticky one. Dont have the answer but just an observation I have made over the years.
