A long time ago when i thought keeping my birds in my shed letting them out each day training them a couple of times a week then sending them on friday night was all i had to do. i was happy to see my birds come home but wondered why i was behind every week. i was lucky that a fellow club member came to my shed and handled my birds-he said all his birds would beat mine every week untill i got them healthy,i was suprised as they flew around ok. he picked up one bird held its beak to extend its neck and asked me to listen to the back of the neck--there was a gurgling noise. he said untill they are put right i will take your pool money every week. thats when my learning started-so healthy birds ,next you have to send to races with the birds in the right condition[as they say fat greyhounds dont win races]then you have to motivate them. HEALTH-CONDITION -MOTIVATION if the birds are good enough they will get on the results TROUBLE IS GUYS IN MY FED HAVE HEALTHIER BETTER CONDITION AND MOTIVATE THEM BETTER THAN ME ,as the best i got was 2nd fed

when i worm my birds i do it indervidual [spelling],and when i bring in new stock i always treat for worms before going into the main lofts no matter where they have come from. i use a small syringe and put 0.2 straight down their neck -then i know they got their dose, works for me. as for this guys problem i think he needs profesional advice and think money would be well spent to get to the bottom of the problem as most advice on here would surgest no one has had this problem ------would like to know how you make out with this one.

if you intend to pair early start your prep now with the old birds get the loft and all the essentials ready as if it snows things take that much longer to do. i try to get as much prepwork done as possible and that includes innoculation one droping, worming and cleaning out the loft ---spraying out and repainting inside .when i put the sexes together i put deep litter on the floor ,i use coconut nest felts and straw[medicated]. young birds are parted straight onto the dark till late june-works for me.

been to work all day come home put the lights on and cut the grass then collected up all the nest bowls and washed the lot in the garden---neighbours must think i am daft. kept having to run in the house as the local kids came trick a treating our lass had bought a load of sweets for them.but all done next big job is injecting them for paramixo then treat all the partings with antibacterial [dry day] and paint out loft.glad i have the electric in.

no 12 think they all look good, well done to all that posted picks.

when i do pair up i like all birds to get on with it and lay at the same time so i can swop eggs,so for me i seperate . also if i want to change the pairing its easier if the birds have been seperated.
