Got 2 myself 1wed. Night 1 yesterday morning (cock that was 9th sec. Clermont as a yearling) both are down on body a bit but not flown out so I think going by their condition a few more will work in, just hope everybody is lucky enough to get some of there old favourites back,
  9. Yes when I was on it I had a fax sent every race morning at 4.30 with weather wind dir. Wind speed, temperature, visibility, cloud base, etc. for the five areas from the racepoint to then north of Scotland and I could contact the weather centre any time of the day, in addition to this Roy Seaton assisted by getting information on the channel from P&O Ferries at Cherbourge and other contacts this was IMO the most important info.for the channel races
  10. Del I had a bad experience with them almost two years ago and warned everybody on here about them.
  11. Well done Steve & Colin
  12. Reading your original post I assumed you were asking if the national convoyers had a procedure for feeding and watering the birds during transit that is why I referred you to the year book.personaly I hav e never had any issues with the convoying of the SNFC birds as they usually turn up in excellent condition
  13. So was I. But we are straying from the original post by mr Wright.
  14. Well it wasn't raised last year Derek, the president was the convoyer at three of the races last year and wasn't questioned on any race.
  15. Did you raise the point at the AGM.
  16. If you are a member of the SNFC read the convoyers report for each race in the year book which gives you a detailed account of when the birds were watered and fed during the journey to the racepoints.
  17. 1472 birds sent by 403 members well upon on last year
  18. Aye it's sare
  19. Lost mine at Otterburn last week Derek 3rd sec. Clermont 4th sec. Reims.
  20. Agree 100pc on most of your points Derek we need a more professional way of marking pigeons for the races.
  21. They are still used today I think the name is Steve Teasdale Blackpool and have never heard any complaints.
  22. Derek I know the heat can have a effect on the outcome of a race my main concern with that is them sitting in transporters in the heat but our birds ere liberated early and like I said returned in very good condition and didn't look dehydrated JMO.
  23. Davie I never meant it to sound that way,the point I'm trying to make is it had nothing to do with the transport if you read last weeks BHW the NFC report on the Messac race it looks like they had a worse race and they have drinkers on 3 sides of the crates. and can't understand how it happened.
  24. Aye Davie blame the National transporter but don't dare blame the Lanarkshire one. I'm with the wicker baskets and I hate to see birds in these tin cans JMO.
