Ihope the SNFC,MNFC,NFC and all the other groups act as one yet again the BICC has grasped the nettle. Please everyone lets get together put differences aside this is a fight we must win.

Mac i am saying a man on a small income who cannot afford much for birds can beat the bigboys it happens all the time .They can win internationals, nationals etc yes money can help but its down to the flyer and his stock sense. In fed sprinting it may be different but to be frank who cares about sprinting in small feds with small radius ie 10 mile feds .

Hello Bruno if you check an article written in the Times 02/04/07 and check a report by the Manifesto club you will see its not just about pigeon clubs. It concerns ALL hobby clubs which have junior membership check what has happened with model aircraft flying clubs were membership is now virtually none existant . I have also checked this with the local police and they have confirmed child welfare officers WILL be required if junior members are in a club. Im sorry Bruno its Fact check for yourself..Stephen
-
OK Steve ill keep them moving thanks again .Stephen
-
Nobody in our club is willing to be a child welfare officer with that we will not have junior members this has happened to 2 local cage bird clubs the same 6 junior members have had to leave nobody was willing to take the responsibility. It is the wifes of the members who will not allow spouses to take these roles on for fear of litigation.Sapper do you think this will happen in other places fear of the litigation angle and wife power this is a serious point and do clubs know about this ?.
-
I would like to point out to all club members as from next year all hobby and sports clubs will be subject to the safeguarding vulerable groups act. This means all clubs with junior members MUST appoint a child welfare officer who MUST be trained for the role any person working directly with the junior members must have a CRB check and Must complete a forms on why they want to work with childrenand provide 2 written references. If you do not conform its a £5000 fine this is not rumour these are facts a number of rugby ,climbing and model aircraft and boat clubs locally will now not allow junior members unless a parent is present at all times and others will not allow junior members at all as nobody is will to become a child welfare officer and allow CRB checks as a number of mistakes have been made. I think this could really affect pigeon and cage bird clubs as well i have checked with the local police and it is true.

Thank you Steve i will finish my old birds now thank you for all the up to date imformation.

You can have all the money you want but if your a poor stockman forget it .It helps but why then are not all the money men at the top small feds and corridor flying can make people look good .At national or even regional level that changes and then stockmanship and knowing your birds tells.

Thank you Steve please let us know what happens thank you.

SP can you give a rough guide as to its location is it near Perpignan eastern Spain or to the West we might get in for it. Alan no he is no relation hes a west London chap a lovely chap its his 2nd GDSB winner not bad for a back garden loft.
-
Ben its a funny racepoint if your flying back down the dogleg as you know i flew NR out of Kernow . The flyers flying east and north do not have the same problems there and flying into the Cotswolds its not to badfrom there the midlands lot get hit here much more if they only knew it . Until people try flying down the dogleg they to be honest havent a clue how hard it is ive met people who where moving west to show the Devon and Cornwall boys how to do it they have nearly all come back with thier tail between thier legs. I hope the combine and the WECA give it a miss its a racepoint for east and north not west.

Congratualations to Paul Stone for winning GDSB from Barcelona a small back garden fancier with a great record at the distance and a lovely man to boot.

What you wrote about the hen in the Perpignan open should make us all think my old man taught me to look in the mirror and my gosh was he right. How would you increase the UK entry im at a loss when i used to go and mark with Mike Young for the BICC it was Mike, Johnny Clarke, Keith Palmer and Myself .It used to drive Mike crazy as why people would not send with the station at Farringdon Gurney we would get the odd extra for the open race from Perpignan and when you look at some of the performances in the international open results Fear Bros so close at Barcelona,Channel Queens performances for himself and others the oppertunity is there. The problem is if everyone takes the attitude of only 200 birds we will get nowhere fast Mr P do you think attitudes will change ? and people will try and what can be done.I have set up 3 birds for Marsaille and 4 for Tarbes and im gutted 2 yrs work down the pan .So Mr P do you things will improve with international in the UK and how.Your views would be interesting.

I congratualate all who timed But for UK pigeons they have to cross that water and that makes a hell of a differenceask the continentals. if its westerly winds the drag is straight to the low countries and our birds dog leg back flying a lot futher and they have to cross the channel. Its a different race to the continentals if the wind is easterly this can and has made a big difference and we can win and get close even at Barcelona and Perpignan on the shorter internationals we have won and got very close on a number of occasions but the late libs from Pau and Tarbes have made it much more difficult . I wish more would take the challenge here 800 plus BICC members but as always its just the same names year in year out Rose we said the increased membership would hardly make a difference we unfortunatly were right .Steve Patrick himself said he only flew the old Perpignan open once when resident here My race is Marsaille but yet again no luck this year.Pau was hard we timed and got 2 out of 3 but look at the differences in results in west or east winds and om early and late libs and do not forget that channel after 500to650 miles the continentals do not . I hope more will try but i doubt it to many are to scared and will not send thier best. Please come and try them the thrill of timing these birds is incredible . Stephen Holmes

Dave Posey of Begbroke flys about the best Dordins anywhere check his results for yourself also Derek Lawton of Cheshire and thier is another chap in Cheshire who flys them well. Look for flyers who are winning today and check thier results not just in feds check them in nationals you want pigeons winning today not just long pedigrees with aristocratic names which have not raced for generations good luck.

The racepoint Kingsdown in Dorset is not on many maps it is approx 2 miles from Portland ive been there Victor hopefully you can get your beauty sleep now. On Barcelona The 25,000 bird are being liberated tommorrow and hopefully we may get back over for the Int Marsaille and the international organisers are looking at Spain as hopefully are the NFC and MNFC . Ive birds set for the Saintes Nfc and BICC Tarbes and Marsaille 12 months hard work on the line i hope organisations stay away from the dog leg.Lets hope for good luck and commonsense on all fronts after al,l who wants inland racing week in week out ?.
-
I sorry but wasnt Andrew Hitchcock selling up again recently so why would he want birds and to waste the vendors time ?.I wonder have circumstances changed again or are you dealing again Master Hitchcock ?.

We start at about 15mls lib in 5,s@3,s 15mins apart 2 south then N,S,E orW wherever we go .We cannot afford lineof flight whatever that is in reality. It makes them think we also once they are running let them out on Saturdays they get plenty of flying and a good education.

Wilts fed Saintes held.

Dave its down to pure logistics and to Stan i used to run a BICC marking station for some years yes all your points are valid and true thier a lot of people who think because you run a station you become a butler at thier beck and call. The sad problem round here is the NFC membership has fallen though the floor to a very low point marking isnt easy and as we are in sect I but do not feel part of it our connections are to Glos and Oxon not Staffs and Notts in friendships and racing. Nobody wants to do it anymore at Carterton a number resigned from the NFC last year here leaving just 2 !. The NFC must look at this but they want fewer marking stations i was told by a committee member last week .
-
Tarbes and Saintes.
-
Hello Chaps im not knocking the NFC secretary its the situation i am just in sect I but the large majority of are section are in the midlands and black country the Gloucestershire/Oxon and South Warwicks flyers have no say it would be fairer to lift the section by some 10mls and take the Glos ond Oxon fanciers out and put us in sect F.The section delegates are both from Rugely and we never see or speak to them we mark at different stations and never meet. The other problem here is Nfc membership has plummeted to literally a handful so stations close we will probably resign at the end of the season as are 3 others it will be just the BICC from now on simple logistics and cost.
