Take your point to certain extent Andy but say a guy "times in" in the south of Belguim a British doo still has a helluva of a fly to get to the channel coast never mind thinking about crossing the channel! Put it another way everyone would time from 60 miles 99% from 80 miles etc etc, but who is going to suggest we should fly from a maximum of 100 miles, no one! These birds are brave brave birds and probably all of the good doos you have timed to your credit this year and in the past few years in channel races, if you were to send them to this race you would never see them again. Guess I am saying pigeons for courses but the point is a good south west wind from the north of france to the east coast of Scotland is a different race entirely from what these gallant birds are contending with. All the best from the last Maidstone!

It would be interesting but Peggy lad to see how the liberation would go if it was great weather down to about 3 miles south of Dunfermline and then a belt of rain from there down to the border do you think they would get up?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Alwas next year Alf!!!!!!!!
  12. Pleased to hear it Alf pity you did'nt get a chance to see what it could from over the water but still a good test.
  13. if you have the room my advice is to give her a try If you are leaving her till next year she will need well trained before she goes, might be worth it might not but there is only one way to find out!
  14. If you fly widowhood I agree with Andy.
  15. Had a hen do exactly the same as yours many years ago frayed flights the lot, came back in may. Mated up right away and was looking good 2x 20mile tosses and then in June flew 220m + 270m +290 mile races. Honestly could'nt tell you the number of times that hen fkew the channel. Guess what my advice is?
  16. your right Sammy Ken was certainly "fleeing" better than "me" at the last function I saw him at!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On a more serious note fantastic flying again from Ken well done lad your birds are a credit to you!
  17. OK tell you what any "SPORTSMAN" who after timing in decides he wants his money back and asks Ian for his pool money back give it to him. All the rest of us sportsmen will just have a race from Maidstone competing for pools as normal. Who could object to that?
  18. With all the back stabbing in the doos around "me" I would suggest "Julius Ceaser" by Shakespeare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Whats the difference between ornispecial and ornispecial extra Cooey?

    LOST GB RUNG

stick her right back out tomorrow night on her own fifer when she is hungry and let her walk about the board and get her confident and used to coming straight back in if she wants to. She sounds a clever wee doo anyway she will probably be fine
  21. Dead right Peggy lad that is exactly what I think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Fantastic what a record this lad has from these long distance events recently. Of course we must not forget the doo. this bird has probably been soaked through about 3 rimes and still kept coming, as i said FANTASTIC!!
  23. Yes indeed all the best to the brave fanciers and birds taking part in this race with the way weather looks it might be another toughy but hopefully they will be able to pick their way through the rain and the south wind should help as will the MNFC birds. Maybe something to consider there for your Gold Medal race next year. All the best lets hope the birds make it home safe and sound.

a sensible decision the birds would been cut to bits by that wind.

Today has been a complete waste of time for doo men but we must hang on to the fact we love our birds and tomorrow might just bring a few home!!
