  3. Thanks Ace.I got some real good price's at the auction and to be hohnest i wouldve bought more if it wasnt so close to christmas.I got 7 at 30 quid each My uncle had two of me to try them and ive crossed one in to my Van reets and kept the other two pair together.Like i said i'm hoping to found a loft and want to start on the right foot.

    Allotment rents

  5. Thanks gangster thats what i was hoping to hear
  6. I bought some birds from Boshneid flyers and on the back of the pedigree's they have a thing that says "Some famous birds in this pedigree" then go's to list them On one it has Schaliewitpen Nl00-0092157 .. Schalie Bourges nl99-9980288 .. Kleindochter Generaal 0344 NL99-9980344 .. Millenniumbultje nl98-9892000 Now what i want to know is are these pigeons famous or is it just a gimmick. It also list the prize's they won and they look impressive.Of the five i got a few seem related but most are not and list different birds. The reason behind the question is being a new starter im looking to start a new family and providing the young are ok i was think of these as the base of it.

    Allotment rents

I would love to have a shed on an allotment instead of my pokey garden .But like as been said its just not safe nowadays.
  8. I'm really lucky my kids sleep in till about 9ish well they did last year i think they could be different this year . Lol when i was a kid i remember getting up at 2am to see if he had been.In the end my mum told me Santa dont come to kids who wont sleep.I was still up at 5 i think.
  9. This may seem a lame question but how long will the egg's keep without being sat or do you have to use an incubator? Also on the original topic my uncle bought an old pair from Louella a few years back and only got one young bird from them .The young un went on to score three first before being put to stock.
  10. Aye all the best to everyone Happy christmas and good luck in the new year
  11. well after checking the egg's against a Light it seem's Jeremy may be right. The second egg deffo looks like its got something in it where as the first egg just looks clear.Bare in mind this is all new to me me so i may be completely wrong . Again thanks alot guy's.I think ive posted it somewhere else but as a genuine novice (ive not even had the birds a year yet) the stuff that may seem simple to you usually sheds a lot of light on things for me.
  12. Nice tip about the eldeberry Ed ive never thought of calming the bird down.it must be terrifying for a young bird to be put in a race crate.
  13. Thanks guys. Now the question is how long do i leave the egg's that are laid till i remove them .And then will the pair go straight back down on eggs or do i have to seperate them again.(providing they are infertile)
  14. Ok thanks guys i think they are doing ok.Just one pair have laid but they have all paired nicely and have great big nest in the bowls.
  15. because ive just moved mine are kept in .If i had them broke i would leave them on open door so they can do what they choose.
  16. Can anyone tell me how long i should expect to wait for egg's after i paired up.I know it will prolly be a bit longer than normal due to the cold weather .Also ive got egg's of one pair 3 days after they paired could this be due to the hen pairing with another hen when they was seperated? how can i tell if the eggs are fertile ? Lol so many question thanks guy's Ronnie
  17. I was allways led to believe the short race's were mainly due to loft location and wind also trapping. Now dont all go moaning at me its just what ive heard and dont know how true it is as ive never raced old birds yet and still wont this year due to ANOTHER house move.

    pairs

I just locked them all up to pair for a few hours then went in every hour or so and let two pair out at a time.I locked them all in over night and did the same the next day .after that it was all ok

    IONISERS

Dont Ionisers charge the particles in the air making them all stick together and drop to the floor?.Just a basic grasp of what they do.Its like when u go out after a thunder storm and all the air feels clean and fresh.I would think they would help if you get a bad chest as not as much dust will be breathed in.
  20. Well ive kept my braspennings together but ive split the pair i bought in and put them with other braspennings.(My theory was if they were breeding winners they wouldnt have been sold.) then ive had to split my Van reets as all i have left is 3 cocks .So i then matched cocks to the number of hens and put them all in together to pick what they wanted .Luckily its all gone they way i wouldve chosen or close enough that i dont mind. Now i'm left with four Boshneid flyers birds wich are left together to settle hopefully they will pair and i will be all set
