by my reckoning ive had a really good season .Topped the fed once and second fed as well took numerous club cards including a card every channel race. Youngbirds ive carded every young bird race i entered bar one (because i got a mood on when they wouldnt trap and just clocked my gold ring bird)a few fed cards in there as well 3x1st club in youngbirds as well. The highlight has got to be a yearling cock i call Superman taking 11the in the middlewich two bird champion of cheshire the same bird was the only bird from niort on the night in the club (only two in fed) taking 1st club 1st fed(by 5 hours) and a combine card to boot. All in all i'm well pleased now if i can end the season with a breeder buyer win(wich i really fancy ) and a middlewich two bird win i wll be over the moon.

My favorite youngbird came back the other day after 4 weeks missing no race rubber and blood all over her tail and a bit on her leg.No signs of injury now i know a lot of people would say cull her or she's no good but i still have high hopes for her.

Thats sad.Sorry to hear that Gracy thanks for trying your best with the bird.

I dont think its not built to last Vallance i think people just dont take pride in there work now like they used to.Thats in every walk of life in the society we live in at the moment. -
must be the wind.Ive just had one returned from the same day no race rubber and dried blood all over its tail feathers .cant find any injury on it or signs of one feels like its been out a while but i wonder what happened to the race rubber?

Wellcome mate

I agree with the personal details bit. Its the professional bit that has me concerned if i was to sell my best cock i would expect more than 360 quid for him same with his hen.does that mean i would become a professional seller surely it should be defined on amount of birds sold not amount of money birds make. This is purely hyperphetical because i wouldnt sell my birds anyway id probably give them away mind .lol

I personally decided not to enter any one loft race's when i found out one modified there own ets software."if its not broke dont try to fix it comes to mind unless there is a hidden agenda".Maybe they should get some experieced distance flyers to help set the youngsters up as if they was flying a 500 miler the velocities would be slow but in the event of a disaster the birds would at least have extra reserves to work there way back.Still hindsight is a wonderfull thing this wasnt the only disaster over the weekend it seem's the weather caught most of the pigeon people out .I find it hard to see how personally its not as if people wernt warned that the weather was going to be bad.Still money talks .

great results well done mate.

Any chance of a few Pics please sounds really good.

Roland i agree with most of what you said.I myself fly the national for a chance to win the section, if the wind is favorable for secion L then thats a bonus i have flown 4 national race's upto now and never pooled in the open only section. The fact ive never won either is neither here nor there lol. Its a chance to compete on a levelish field against the best flyers in my area.As of yet i am not upto there standard but only by competeing against them will i hope to get there. On a side note i did race the club on saturday from kingsdown but that was only 177 miles and the velocities where into the low 1500's i sent 11 and had 11 by night fall 9 with 10 min's of the winner

from reading the article in the first post.I took it that the hen that produced mosaic's failed to produce the chemical that stopped other sperms fertalising the egg's ,thus enabling another sperm to enter and fertalise.I dont pretend to understand most of it i just try and get the basic priciples then throw idea's about to see if they work .
-
Very Very interesting Now if we get a hen that can produce mosaic's then seperate it and when due for pairing put it in with our two best racing cocks i wonder if we could get lucky and get half and half now if them two best racing cocks happened to be brothers would that intensify the winning gene pool even more than normal? A great article thanks Roland

Congratulation's great flying.

I was studying the weather on the week leading up to this race and as soon as i heard the race point was changed it made my mind up and i decided not to send.I may upset a few people by this statement but the end result lies with the fancier if you send the bird's then be prepared for them to be let go.It's ok after the fact to blame people for decisions but at the end of the day they are still people and people make mistakes.

depends how many you want to race as old birds. If you want a team of 12 w/h cocks for instance you would need 12 hens to go with them.So without losse's you would need 24 to start with.then take in losse's lets be genorous and say u lose 4 may be more maybe less so that puts us on 28 out of the 28 you will lose a few as yearlings say 5 so you will have to take that into account. Then you need to think if you are having stock birds or just breeding of racers. If i had to start again i would write everything down that ive said above and also leave a few percent for just bad birds. And would then work out the figures and space available.Remember youngbirds left at the end of the season will be breeding your future young birds so you need to make sure there is enough for that as well unless you want to keep bringing in new birds each year.
-
If i'm hohnest ive only sent because i'm after a trophy i need the best velocities from the longest old bird and longest young bird race ive also got three birds competing in the fed gold ring race as well.

I think the birds will be up today .Cant see them going up tomorrow
