Geordie unfortunately the only way is up. In a business perspective if you own a company and your customers buy shed loads at £14.00 a bag, you aren't going to drop the price.
Can anyone of the computer minded people offer me some advice. I've noticed Netbooms can be purchased rather cheaply, but I know nothing of them. Is it possible to put Microsoft office on them?
I used to play with training 2,3,5,10,15,20. My findings you lost a lot of birds the closer to home you were. I know find starting at 15-20 miles my loses are minimal to none.
Sapper it is all dependant on how long you are looking to race these hens. Many organisations now have a old hens national which is raced in conjunction with there young bird national usually September time. However that being said in theory you leave the hens on the darkness till 3 weeks prior to the event you wish for them to specialise in. But you can still do the darkness even if you won't be racing them into the young bird program, but in my opinion it is not Nessecary
Shweet there are many vaccination for respiratory on the continent. Lincoln spectin is the famous one but requires you to inject into the breast with a ultra fine needle not my cup of tea.
Al through rearing your friend had them on the light the birds believed it was summer or springs, the point of darkness is to manipulate the birds body clock, with darkness they are lead to believe it is winter. In my opinion the lights should have been turned off after the eggs are laid. If the lights were on in your friends racing section the race birds will moult earlier also
They should be on natural darkness so shouldn't, However it depends on the year in my opinion this year has been quiet light especially in the mornings. But darkness youngsters do not need to be early bred infact early bred in my opinion is a hinderance.
Young hen. The younger the better also. I find locally and from experience young hens race better then young cocks generally and are more consistant, I don't follow one loft past race winners so couldn't say what sex has the lead.
Always liked the look of the Spanish ones, I have a series of hutches which I use for strays ect I considered getting a few at one time for a bit of fun and have them flying out from there. The ones I was after the chaps that had em wouldn't sell em, and the others weren't the ones I was looking for
Always liked Spanish thief pouter there like gold dust, never been able to get one ,I believe they play the game with them up in Scotland alot, tried to get some many moons ago.
I Hate to do it but you cannot help it, it is only done purely on looks. But always seem to keep the ugly bassads my picks are long gone by end of season. I never look at the breeding of young birds until they score or until end of season
