  2. Aye thats right and who gubbed ye aw in the y/b national???!!!
  3. Re ''Pride o the Glen'' Lewis, Was she a yearling when she won it? Think she came from Jimmy's nephew Jim Smith's Parkside Bloodlines? Remember that Jim was p'eed off when he got the sire back fi Jimmy as he wouldn't pair up for at least 2yrs, and dont know if he ever did?! Do you remember Davie Meldrum at all? A proper gentleman he was, but couldn't fly his own doos because of a nuisance neighbour, so kept them in just to keep the peace. Was 88 the year Jock & David Maxwell won the fed open from the last race?
  4. Will agree with you there, especially after Cheltenham last year???!!!
  5. Maybe its time they went to see someone about their financial situation as it is at present? I know the BBC have money invested somewhere which earns them a bit, they didn't do so well last year either as nearly all their races made a loss, but they are putting on more races this year?!!! The one thing I like is that they use Steve Appleby who seems to do an good job on his forcast advice to them, have the SNFC thought about using his services?
  6. £103,000? Whats the problem if they have that amount in reserve? The fancy put that money in their account in the first place, shouldn't they be giving some off it back instead of trying to get more? jmo.

  10. Well Done indeed on your win in the 500ml class. Each to their own, but would have to agree with yourself, much prefer a racer to a show bird. It's a bit like my Dad said to me, '' If it was a wife you were looking for which one would you pick? Wan thats intelligent, will work its fingers to the bone for its family, and wull pass that on to your weans, or wan that just looks the part but cannae dae either?!!''

  15. Well Done Lewis great article, looking forward to more if you have the time.
  16. In the 80s had a mate who had a peep hole between his widowhood cocks and his hens, though they were never raced. It wasn't deliberate but a knot in the wood partition that fell out just at pigeon eye level. This proved to be a godsend as they would fight over the area in front of it.He would block it off till thursday night and then unblock it and watch for the the most determined cock to claim it to pick his pooler. Though his best cock who won 6x1st one year never left his box.One of the others would when he was in form pace up and down in front of the hole, a bit like an expectant father in a waiting room, and even sleep outside it during the night, he won 3x1st one year when doing this.
  17. Why only one corn? Used the bags you can buy for 3yrs now and put whatever I think they need in them, except Barley, they threw it out looking for the other grains, and ended up just scrapping it out along with the droppings.

Thanks for replying fid. The story my Dad told me was that on returning from work down the pit one day,he came home to find a telegram from a Dr. Martin congratulating him on breeding a nat winner, (think it was Nantes too). He showed this to my Dads father saying he couldn't understand it as he had never given or sold any doos to the Doctor? It turned out that Wullie who was a milkman in the town had been given ybs by his Dad and sold them to Dr. Martin! Wullie was a bit of a character so I've been told. Hammy was one of the best flyers around at the time, including winning every race in the clubs ob programme one year when there was 30 or so members. His whole loft of birds was bought by Dr. Anderson, when he decided to call it a day. Thanks again for replying.

Hi there, I might be wrong but I'm sure Dr. Martins nat winner was bred by H Sloan mentioned by Rooster? Are you able to shed any light on this?
