The story my Dad told me was that on returning from work down the pit one day,he came home to find a telegram from a Dr. Martin congratulating him on breeding a nat winner, (think it was Nantes too). He showed this to my Dads father saying he couldn't understand it as he had never given or sold any doos to the Doctor? It turned out that Wullie who was a milkman in the town had been given ybs by his Dad and sold them to Dr. Martin! Wullie was a bit of a character so I've been told. Hammy was one of the best flyers around at the time, including winning every race in the clubs ob programme one year when there was 30 or so members. His whole loft of birds was bought by Dr. Anderson, when he decided to call it a day. Thanks again for replying.
