  1. Good morning all.
  2. Looks like an RPRA 2015 rung pigeon. Plastic clip ring on the same leg may have a phone number. The ring on the other leg is its timing ring. This records its arrival at the loft. Either that or have it enter a pheasant cage, use the string to close the door.
  3. The big problem with fanciers giving advice on a site like this is the large variation of methods and requirements. Pigeons racing into different areas require different feeding and training methods. As has been mentioned, advice from a distance enthusiast will be different from a sprint enthusiast. The receiver of this combined wisdom then has to sift out what they require. The old way of having a fancier on your doorstep to assist you was far better, in so far as, it was only one set of advice and correct for your area and type of racing. There is loads of great advice given on this site, but you have to know who to listen to and what advice to try. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
  4. Good morning all.
  5. I breed a lot of latebreds and don't train them. I give them a couple of chucks at 6 mile, get fed up with them messing about and take them to 20 or 30 miles and they start to work. They race the sprint programme to 165 miles and I usually get around 66% of them at the end of it.
  6. Happy birthday.
  7. Congratulations Stuart and Karen.
  8. Depends on the pigeons. If they are loft fit they may just be flying around to use up their energy before deciding to home. I have found with my pigeons that if they are trained from around 10 miles it can take them 30 minutes to return, but if I take them 20 or 30 miles they can be back around the same 30 minutes. You will get to know your own pigeons and how they behave.
  9. Have a good one. One of our kids is away to Italy skiing with the school, but we are stuck here with the others for a week, then I get to take them to the caravan whilst the boss stays at home.
  10. Take them to 20 or 30 miles.
  11. Good morning all.
  12. Fifer would know.
  13. This report is from 2014.
  14. Happy birthday.
  15. Good morning all.
  16. I'm the shortest flier in the Fed, it's 96 miles to me, but the Girvan fliers will be 126 miles and the Stranraer boys will be flying 156 miles. The Federation is well spread to the South. The majority will be flying around 106 to 116 miles.
  17. Robert Anderson from Kirky. Ally, just posted the programme on a new thread rather than hijack this one, but pick ups could be a major problem for you as well.

  19. More the merrier Derek. I think Rab is coming this year again. He said he had a hut-full for the North. mibees aye and mibees naw, but it would still be murder getting them into where you are.
  20. Fill the gaps with some North races. You must have enough for a North Club and we'll speak about conveying, or just come as trainers.
  21. Saturday 16th April, 19th is a typo. The rest are as AGM.
