    Weathers perfect here.............. that is if ya race slugs
  2. Winning pigeons here were doing 38mph. There was less than 2 yards between the first 6 in the club.

  9. Hi Stu Reading both your posts on this subject we don't differ to much in our beliefs, maybe 2 things differ. One of them is you say 'Most have had or will have 2,4 or 5 races.' I like to give mine 4 or 5 ( they've had 3 at the moment) the other difference is mine don't seem to bomb out of anywhere. ;D ;D I race Nth road and up to 200mile our racing is out and out sprint. I've found racing them as babies is a must. Tony
  10. If sprint/middle distance is your thing I believe it pays to race them as babies.

    The RPRA rule covering this. 127. a) Any member or Organisation arranging for the convoying of racing pigeons shall, where the number of birds carried exceeds 500, ensure that the vehicle used is adequately fitted with equipment for the controlling of fires. The number of pigeons placed in the basket or container must be restricted relevant to the distance and time spent in them. The following figures must be strictly adhered to. Failure to do so may entail suspension of the individuals or organisation responsible. The nights in the basket to be from the day of marking to the projected day of liberation. Time Minimum floor area per pigeon 0 or 1 night 44 sq. ins. 2 nights 52 sq. ins. over 2 nights 60 sq. ins. See Appendix F

  20. I would say its very very rare for a squeaker in the nest to contract Paramyxo. I believe for the first month of their life they carry an immunity passed on by the hen.
