This year I experimented on letting my w/h cocks out once a day for 1 hour only. They were exercised between 9:30am-10:30am. My aim was to work more on getting them into a better condition early doors as in past years the cold starts to the season we've encountered wasn't conducive to this. I achieved getting them into great condition but found they were lacking that bit of zip. Whilst out exercising they flew well for the hour but they didn't exercise as I like seeing them, their behavior was different. I kept this up until the 6th race and although they were doing ok I wasn't happy. After the 6th race I started letting them out twice a day and in doing so found their form increased.
Would I do this again? If I set my stall out for the distance races later in the season YES, if to be competitive in the first half of the season NO.
