  1. When you have y/birds in the nest this time of year dont put freezing cold water in the drinkers, add a bit of hot water to it just to take the chill of. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You cant stop smashed eggs from occurring but if you add a dummy egg to each nest (especially if you have the odd troublesome yearling) you can at least salvage their nesting condition, they'll carry on sitting the dummy and you can give them a baby when they were due to hatch.

Vic's heart is in the right place. He's been telling it like it is for years and long may he continue.
  3. Once laid out I feed 50/50 w/h mix/depurative. I cease feeding them in their boxes and feed them communally.

  7. I guess the first and biggest mistake I made was not laying a concrete base to sit my loft on. 2nd mistake, thinking that some of the old boys way of doing things were outdated.
  8. Well done again Stuart and yes a nice touch from those offering a donation if they were to be one of the lucky ones.
  9. As a rough guide work on them growing 1/4 inch per day
  10. Oil from the preening gland only makes up 7% of a pigeons waterproofing, pigeon bloom does the rest. Boffins now think that the act of preening (the spreading of oil on feathers) in some species of birds is also a sex/mate indicator, the oil is visible in their ultraviolet sight range thus aiding identification.
  11. As a health indicator? or a feeding indicator? or both? or neither?

    Hormoform

The best time I found to introduce it was when they started feeding their young.
  24. I don’t know if the SHU rules similar to the RPRA. The RPRA I'm led to believe say all applications to join has to sit on the table for 14 days before voted on. If this application was in the hands of the secretary 14 days prior to this meeting these 'concerns' should have been looked into then. The club in question constitution they submitted to the lottery grant should make interesting reading. If by not allowing this lad in I'm positive they would be breaching both their own constriction and the terms of the grant.
