I think the weather has a lot to answer for. Persistent cold north easterly winds twinned with chilly nights doesn't allow form to come easily. A few weeks back I decided to lock my pigeons up for a week because I wasn't happy with them or their condition. 1st fed the following week 2nd fed two weeks later.......... its not always a health problem.

Streptococci is apparently doing the rounds, best treatment for this is Amoxicillin. Always best to get them checked by a vet before giving any sort of anti-biotics.

Feed it 2 heaped tablespoons or you could use an eggcup as a measure and give it 2 of those. This should work out you'll be giving it 1.5oz of feed which should be sufficient.

My son-in-law is a twitcher. He told me Sennon Cove is a recognized place where twitchers go to see Peregrine Falcons, tells me there's 5 pair there.

Put it away in a spare box with loads of straw in. No need for splints being so low down, the pigeon will position itself in such a way that it'll fix better without our interference. Give it around 6-7 days then place it back in the racing loft, it may still hold its leg up and/or limp but its better off with its mates.

I've never encountered any problems taking them off the dark, one thing I do though is confine them to the loft for a couple of days whilst they adjust.
