Our first race in on the 14th of April. My old bird team are still rearing and have had no basket work. I'm hoping to get their young away this week and start training the week after. Long range forecast suggests the wind will swing around to the west in 7-10 days time (fingers crossed) but if not I'll bide my time till it does.

Take what I say here with a pinch of salt because if I knew what I was talking about I'd be doing videos I feed a high % of carbs throughout racing. Fats on the other hand I try to keep low in the first part of the week and increase at the end. Depending on race distance and whether its going to be a blow home or nose ender regulates when fats are given and what quantities. The thing about fat seeds is that if fed as part of their regular diet the pigeons become picky & choosy and flick the larger grains out and it becomes one hell of a job to maintain their appetite throughout the season. If I feel they need more protein at any given time I'll add brewers yeast to their feed also adding pellets.
