Great news Andy. So pleased to learn you're getting on top of things. Baby steps mate, baby steps.
  3. I recommend 18mm exterior ply for the whole carcass of the boxes. Would never recommend chipboard as it's liable to 'bow', and can be a more suitable home for mite etc.

  10. Was having a quick look at the I.H.U list this morning, and there's 198 substances on it.

Sincerest best wishes Andy, hoping a speedy recovery.
  12. Even since Northrop Barkers passing, his family of pigeons could still be around even to-day, and regarded as pure. I can't see where you get 'hundreds of generations' from. Indeed, it would be possible to have pure Barkers around at present, after only 15-20 generations of breeding, maybe less. There ability to 'race' could be questionable, but to make a statement that 'there is no such thing as a Barker' doesn't stand up to scrutiny.
  13. Mornin' all. Been busy in workshop last few weeks, so I think a tidy-up is in order.

  17. If I'm reading this correctly you're advocating possible testing at marking station, en-route and when race is concluded. In all honesty your getting a bit paranoid Sir. Why would you advocate pre-race random testing which would have a very low success rate. I say again, testing has to be targeted and more selective. Surely it is more logical and avoids your system of 'shooting in the dark'.
  18. If I'm reading it correctly Davie, what John is pointing out, is the logistical & financial nightmare testing would be. I also see you're thinking more of the distance fancier to be focused upon. Do the sprint men become immune to testing ? Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the idea of drug testing, but an awful lot of thought and collaboration would have to take place to give any credence to its' inception.

  20. In hindsight, I may be coming round to a less random course of action ! Is it not better to work with a more selective regime ? Is it not better to ensure our pigeons are not subject to another stress level just prior to being asked to compete ? Random testing would still allow pigeons to escape the procedure. Selective testing of pigeons who either win or appear on club / federation results would concentrate the effort. After all, surely the point of the exercise is to target those using 'drugs' and not just casting a wide net, which random testing would be. In your post you state 'it will make people think twice cause they know there's a possibility'. Wouldn't it be a bigger deterent for them to know it's a definite ! OMO.
  21. Random testing - yes. Testing at race marking or en-route - definitely not, and it's nothing to do with the 'nothing to hide' principal.
