Coming into contact with other fanciers is a great thing. The autumn and winter period should also be used to its' maximum also. Try to attend a few shows and if possible, when judging is finished, politely explain to the judge that you're a new starter, and see if they'll give you a bit of info on their choice of prize winners. You will also see advertised pigeon 'moots'. Basically, this involves a few (3 or 4)experienced fanciers being invited to a venue to answer questions from what can be a good crowd of fanciers, eager to pick their brains. Don't worry, you're not under any pressure to ask anything, more so to listen and learn !! And READ !! Read everything you can get your hands on over the winter months. Some of the articles you can disregard as too complicated etc. Read these articles, and from them you can adopt your own system. From these you can also get a pictorial view of pigeon lofts. Some of them will strike you as 'palatial', forget them....that's the future !! The system you initially choose can be adjusted where necessary. Don't buy into the 'success from a bottle' club. Clean food, clean water to begin with, and go from there. IMO. Best of luck.
