Last weekend, suddenly.....wasps!!

So sad to acknowledge the passing of Phillip J. Hughes, aged 25, as the result of a terrible accident. Condolences to Mum, Dad and his brother & sister. A tragedy. Taken too young.

It wasn't mate, not the same pigeon! All major card holders were old birds, so BYB came from 'outside' the cards. PS Class was Any Age cock or hen.

I would recommend Alex Wight. Makes a really good job, and is excellent for bespoke goods which is what you're after. If you look at the right hand side you'll see him listed as 'Crafty Fifer', click on it and there are pictures of his work there, especially in later posts.

Due to the possibility of damage being caused by high winds, I made wooden frames to locate the Sputniks in, and give them more strength. When the sheds were in place, there was naturally a gap from floor to base. I wanted to cover this over, so decking was cut, and fixed accordingly. Later stained with creosote. Holes cut to allow for ventilators. To stop birds having access to Sputnik, removable dowel frames were made. To stop birds seeing outside and maybe disturbed by activity in the garden, hinged opaque frames were made. No great loss of light, and also calms the birds down. Finally, dowel doors with sprung closers. Bottom 18" opaque PVC used so passing cats, or our own dogs won't disturb the birds. Hope these help in some small way.

I've been trying to come up with an idea for next years racing. What I'm trying to do is organise some sort of 'competition' for members which would maybe be presented as allowing a more even playing field. Could I even contemplate the idea that an 'also ran' could win it, or will it also be a case that the same names will come to the fore ? My idea was to encourage the 'also rans'. Any ideas folks or is it a forlorn hope ?

We couldn't really afford a comic for me on a weekly basis, but always got the Dandy Annual at Christmas.

After reading the contributions by others and more important your own, I think this could be a case of 'Much ado about nothing'. Your 'rusty bar' is natural, caused by moisture in the air within the loft. All air contains moisture to varying degrees. Rest assured, my friend, a problem of moisture excess will soon manifest itself. For a start you'd smell it !! OMO.
