Unfortunately I think you have a bit of a dilemna here. Un-paired hens I find do well on 'poles' and closed into an out-side aviary during day light hours. Pippo boxes are preferred for young birds. If you've looked carefully at the 2 main photos of the perches shown, there is a huge difference in them. The 1st photo you posted would still give hens the possibility for hens to lay, because as stated, they are still relatively 'flat' in nature. A mate had this type and considered them a nuisance, and subsequently changed them. The lift off perches shown by Alex in the second picture are more to my liking, as they basically only have that lath for them to roost on. If you don't have the option of splitting hens and youngsters, I would favour the lift-off type. OMO.
