Good frost last night. Beautiful cloudless sky although still very cold.

At the Dublin Show to-day the very successful husband and wife partnership of Kiera & Timmy Mawhinney entered a team of 34 pigeons. From these, 29 of them were carded. 8 first prizes were won, and to make the outing an outstanding day they were also Best in Show (with the same pigeon that won it last year), Best Opposite Sex, Best Young Bird and Most Points. Timmy puts an enormous amount of time and effort into his racing and showing, and I believe it is only fitting that he enjoys the fruits of his labour. May I be one of the first to congratulate them both, and may your success continue. PS See you both in the morning for a few cups of decaff. !!

Wondered does anyone have any details for this years show. Been trying to get contact numbers as I know someone who was maybe interested in entering a few. Any help would be much appreciated.

What is the roof made from. Is it painted timber ?

There's obviously a water ingress of some sort going on. Let's try and help and get it sorted before the winter sets in !! 1. Is it occurring mostly in the corners or is it all round, where the sides of the loft meet the floor ? 2. How far does the dampness come into the loft ? 3. When it rains......does the dampness get worse depending on how heavy it has been raining ? Trying my best to help you with your problem ! Cheers, Paul.

Got a phone call tonight cursing me into hell and out of it again !! Why can't I make these myself he asked (with a bit of AngloSaxon mixed in) After a few ideas being transferred across the Irish Sea, I headed straight to the workshop to try the ideas we had come up with, realising with the new saw I bought on Friday it was possible (knackered the other one) So Alex this is what I came up with !! Started with 8" of 3x1.5 PAR. Set the end stop as required, adjusted the depth stop and adjusted blade to 30 degrees. Made a cut each side. Cut and fit 2 pieces of 4mm ply. These were a tight fit into the groove cut by the saw. Flushfit brackets.....just the job, as I want the perches removable. Attach 1 bracket to perch, the other where perch is to be located. And hey presto......the finished article !! Thanks Alex.....always good to have someone to bounce ideas off !!

Don't really 'treat' for anything over the winter, just a build up with different herbs, oils etc. to help bring them into breeding condition.

Brian, can you make some room in your PM box, think it's full mate.

Thanks for that Andy. Widowhood in the main is about racing cocks to hens, but why not use other cocks in adjoining boxes to add motivation? There are a few options available with this design, but I'll leave the details for folks to work out !!
