    Major Hutton

Any chance it could have been Capt. Derek Cuttcliffe ?
  2. When I cut, I use the following sizes : 5 pieces.....14.25" x 28.5" 2 pieces.....14.25 x 65" This leaves an approx. gap of 4" or so at the bottom, which lifts the bottom box off the ground, and I just cover the gap in with plywood. I would also advise 'pushing the boat out' a bit, by using 18mm plywood. IMHO. PS These measurements suit the standard plastic widowhood fronts, not the rounded plastic ones.
  3. Looking good Jimmy.
  4. I did have this type years ago, but once I saw the design I always made my own. A few bits of 1" x 1" timber, piece of shelving a few hinges and away you go !
  5. Happy Birthday folks, best wishes to all.
  6. Good morning everyone
  7. Overcast here.
  8. It grieves me deeply to inform the Forum of the passing of a beautiful man, whom I was lucky and proud to be able to call my Father. Although not a fancier, he was a great help in building my first loft, and supported my venture by paying for everything !! Dad had been physically unwell for the past few years, yet faced it all, right to the end with unbelievable dignity and courage. He knew what was happening, and in the last week, whilst in Hospital, he whispered to me....'I'm rolling Home'. 20 years ago, my Son Christopher passed away, and again Dad told everyone visiting that Christopher would come and take him 'home'. I leave these thoughts and personal tribute to a man who, unlike many, was well worth more than the space he occupied on this Earth. Love you Dad. Your proud Son, Paul.

  14. Just in the throws of putting together plans for nest boxes in the old bird loft (natural pairs). Just wondered if I could get away with 11" internal height ? No problems with length & depth of boxes, just started to consider the height. What do you think ?
  15. Great end result.....a big 'well done' to all. :emoticon-0137-clapping:
  16. Well done Craig. Just keep them ticking along, and with a bit of patience you'll be OK.

  19. Hi folks. I'm going to taking delivery of my first 4 young birds very soon. These are to be future stock birds, so will never be in a basket. As I see it, my main priority is to have them develop physically to their maximum potential, so envisage using a mixture much higher in protein than carbohydrates. Was looking at Versela Laga Liege mixture and it struck me as being what I want. Just wondered has anyone used this mixture in its' 'pure' state and not mixed it with anything else, and what do you think of it?
  20. Another beautiful day here. Bit of a breeze, but cloudless. :emoticon-0157-sun:
  21. 'morning all
  22. Good morning all. Spending the day in the garden.....beautiful day, no cloud.
  23. Beautiful morning here....cloudless.
  24. Thanks mate, much appreciated.
  25. Thanks John. I do get through quite a few cups of coffee sitting and planning. Sometimes I may not get things right, in other peoples' opinion, but in this instance, I don't think I'm too far off the mark !! Thanks again John, much appreciated.
