sure is bud, thats what its all about, thats what makes it all the worth keeping them.all i can say is what ive studied over 24 years having them, ive topped the combine topped the fed won open races, single entries and never once studied the throat,u can tell when they are breathing right, when they win.good luck 2009

hi kev with red stone grit i only put an hand full down every day for them,i once watched a friends pigeons eat half a bag of red stone grit, they were really bad next day,if they keep gulging it have your birds checked for worms and cocci, but usually when you first put red grit down they will eat the lot but after a few day should slow down. les

seem to find this on over weight pigeons,if there flying out and well there tounge will lie flat, over fed birds will lift there tounge due to being over weight and finding it hard to breath, les

so if its a good birds theres no need to check the throat then,so winner to winner should breed winners ie with good throats, sounds simple to me but in reality ? the basket is the only decider, keep the ones that win get rid of those that dont, and some bloody good management. Les

Dicke Meerman has the best jan loots there is to be seen,i myself have a direct dtr of stoichkov and on its way is a son of cantona.dicke meerman got them from jan loots and jan loots got them from henk van boxtel, the satalite loft of the original janssen pigeons, van boxtel flew his head off in the early year and so did jan loots.there top class janssens and some of the best to be found,De rappe of pouws come down from jan loots through dicke meerman has dicke gave the pouw bros the sire to the rappe. I think we all would like these but when we do i dont think people are prepared to sell them, unless there packing in. les

Good pigeons will win weather they are trained or not,ime talking about old birds, has long has they exercise well around the lofts, other years ive hardly trained and last year trained them heavy, when i look back my best results were hardly no training, (widowhood only) Les

i think most familys now are all round pigeons, what you need to find is the best ones that will breed you winners, then theres the feeding and keeping up with there health, motivation and 100% dedication with them, thats the only way you will keep up with all the rest. Les

ive raced a few hens just like you do with widow cocks, same nest boxes, they never paired and they won races, sent 1 hen to chelmsford once ,only 1 entry 157mls and won it with her,she also won other races aswell at sprint, hens will beat cocks easy when there right. LES

ive used the horse wormer for a few years but not in the last 2 years, found it good but never found worms, but a friend did do his with the same wormer and ive never seen has many worms come out of pigeons in my life, and his looked well and flew quit decent aswell,u never know what your birds have inside them ,thats why you need a routine system to keep the nastys away or true form will never be reached when racing comes around. Breedin Programe Fast Approching
schouwman71 replied to budgie's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
pigeons are 365days a year job,so if you look after them good all year theres not really a lot of stuff you need to do has your birds and loft should be already clean and healthy,UNLESS you have bought new stock and then you will need to treat for most things, dont think they are healthy because they look good. Les -
I know a lot of belguim and dutch fanciers have used them for a good crossing into there own pigeons, but id say yes they are very good pigeons.

went to donny today, biggest attraction was the vander merwe sale, they went for a lot of money, think peter was happy anyway, must admit they were some bad pigeons there but if they dont sell there will end up at blackpool. Les
-
Had them years ago from gerard schlepphorst, pencils ,bronzes and cheq pieds, wish i had them now. les

paulo understand on what you are saying but has people have asked about the birdage and i agree with them, any pigeon can win with around 100 pigeons but it takes a good one to win with a few 100 pigeons, all they were asking is somethink about the breeding side has thats what it would be used for and not racing.i know tsykes has good birds has i have 2 here from him what have raced decent for me this year, but i would not have bought them without knowing what bred them.? Les

louella birds are cracking, ive never faulted them, ive got some janssens this year from them,id av paid a lot more else were. les

They are good pigeons, look at the lines of peter vander merwe, then look at what prices they make at auction. les
-
they were a few in saturdays homing world for sale, cheap aswell and very well bred. les

id say it was a grizzle, and i have seen this colouration many times when you pair a grizzle to a black pied.ive got some pieds with the recessive white bars aswell. les
