  1. come on lads get your votes in.
  2. Ben ,i totally agree with you how you say feed the widowers, ive used this system on sprint races and won,and yes it does beat all the modernday rubbish you hear and read.Well wrote ben. ;D
  3. Thats a real pity bud,Thats really tough racing indeed. That explaines the large amount of young birds.Cheers
  4. birdman, you never really went into detail why you and other fanciers loose so many pigeons in your area and whats the cause of it,it would be interesting to here for all of us to see what goes on in the usa regarding pigeon racing. i wasant diggin at you .
  5. 7-10 days sitting ,ive had good results from that.
  6. 1 hour morning then 1 hour after tea.darken them out about half an hour after they have been fed,but make sure you exercise them after a while they will fly like young birds high and fast plus you wont see them for an hour anyway, plus dont worry if there are near lofts who are flying out widow cocks as they wont entertain them.I use to get my club mates waiting for me letting my hens out to try and spoil them but it never worked. ;D
  7. if i had to know that i would loose all my youngsters every year by breeding my average 30,i think i would have to start with looking at what i was breeding off in my stock loft as here in the u.k and in scotland have some very tough land to cross aswell.
  8. got mine aswell from m.n.f.c,mine are just starting to chip.
  9. perch your hens and darken them out, keeps them from going too proud early in the week, this way you will get them to fly 2 hours a day.if kept in the boxes you will find it difficult exercising hens if kept in boxes.
  10. yea, once had a janssen cock from there,Don gwillam bought it i think, anyway i got it through a friend,i still remember him now blue cock Belg82-6014963 ( grunter ) i named him,he bred me some very nice light cheqs that scored well for me and is also g.g.sire to many combine winners throuugh my other janssens .
  11. other words he wasnt much good
  12. ive got mine in,
  13. or is it just another publication for selling his birds in the u.k
  14. I think if you could do that ,there would be a lot of youngsters in the bin before they would leave the nest.

    YOUNG BIRDS

about 5 days ill have my first round hatching out and thats 12.
  16. still waiting on Chris Balsons reply on this as like his comments, there very possitive and full of common sence. But theres some really good comments on here.Still say you need the time to be at the top of the tree though.
  17. dont think you will go far wrong with the janssens from louella,my very best janssens were from there.
  18. if the birds are a pair i think its quit possible, but 500 plus you need the right tackle.
  19. Must say nice cocks.
  20. Good subject,Ilove talking about breeding qualities when it comes down to pigeons, the first thing i go for is the handling of the pigeon,it should sit calm in the hand and the tail should just dip slightly, the wing should come into shape with the body, the head should be sharp aswell has the eyes ,nice and clear( white wattles ) also i have found out the best ones will have a very soft heart beat.
  21. dont forget ,he flies in florida,a lot different there to the british weather we get here.
  22. me & my wife, its agood partnership as she leaves all the thinking to me,she tends to pick out the pool pigeons though.

    Limits

its the Laws of average, the more you send the more chences of winning,But i agree also that a small team loft with good birds and good managment will win races,But theres plenty of people in a club that do try there best with there birds and carnt win a prize no matter how hard they try because you get 2 or 3 lofts sending hell of a lot of birds and especially in young bird races will always have the edge on smaller lofts.
  24. a club friend has the luc van hoecks direct from him,he goes every year and has got them from his best, good for the distance.
