  3. part your hens ,or have spare hens and pair them up to you, will beat widowers thatway, ive done it many times and won races, best thing they also land on you when they come back no need to catch them, only thing they take some pairing back up to pigeons year after has they still think your there mate.good init.Les
  4. very true, its a bad thing who ever has done that, the lowness that some people do this, but yes reporting it to the r.s.p.c.a will just make us all the same, print it in the B.H.W and see whos the pigeons are.
  5. many people say,if your buying stock birds only buy youngsters for stock and only buy older ones from entire clearance sales, but i dont find this to be true,i have bought many a good pigeon out of the B.H.W at 8-9 yrs old that has bred me some fantastic pigeons, and left me some youngsters from them that have gone into the stock loft that has bred winners.Les
  6. Loft stock and Barrel by barry mcnicolas, wont go far wrong with this book.
  7. i only like 1 type of stock bird and that is been able to breed top quality pigeons that are capable of winning races on what ever distance you specialise in,and even better if there youngsters breed winners aswell,to me its no good if you carnt breed winners into its next generation, now thats were the pedigree comes in to look back to see how its parents g,parent g,g,parents have bred, its no good just saying ime only interested in the 1 pigeon you have to breed winners has you get so many that will breed the winners put its children wont breed winners,a real breeder should be able to carry on its winning genes far down the lines as possible, now thats what i call a stock bird.Les
  8. ANY PICS ?
  9. MY LOFT IS 2FT OFF MY EXTENTION ON MY HOUSE AND RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF MY SIDE FENCING,YOU CAN NEARLY TOUCH THE SIDE OF MY LOFT BY REACHING OUTSIDE MY KITCHEN WINDOW,IF YOUR LOFT IS TIDY AND ON A CONCRETE BASE YOU WILL BE OK,YOU ARE ALLOWED 68 CUBIC FEET OF EXTENDED BUILDING,IE SHEDS GARAGES,LOFTS BUT GET THE COUNCIL OUT TO CHECK IT OUT ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED IT AND TELL THEM YOUR ONLY KEEPING A DECENT AMOUNT OF BIRDS,I HAD SOMEONE OUT ONCE I ERECTED MINE AND SHE WAS EVER SO PLESENT AND ALSO SENT ME A LETTER PLUS MY NEIGHBOURS THAT I WAS ALLOWED TO HAVE MY LOFT AND BIRDS ON MY BACK GARDEN.LES

i bought a direct son off the old janssen cock "stamvater" amd "sheer elegance" it cost me £800 in 1988 and he was a real stunner, just looked like his farther, anyway he went on to breed 21x1sts and g,sire to many more including a combine winner in 2000,plus many fed prize winners in the first 5.ive had a few janssens from louella over the years and all have bred winners.Les

ive had a few over the years from louella, and they have turned out to be good birds, when i usually buy youngsters from them i always treat them straight away with nifuramicyn for 5 days, that gets rid of all the nasty bugs they pick up and fetch to your own loft.i also only fed them maples for 3 weeks before changing there corn, since ive been at my new address i havnt had any,not because of the quality but lack of room.Les
