  1. use to have a janssen hen GB90 bird just used to send her to the distance races as a widowwhood hen aswell as paired to me,i always clocked her in and score with her,she used to come like a sprinter,in 1992 clearmont was her 1st race that season 337 mls and she was 2nd club 12 fed.Sadly i lost her in 1993 on a training toss. ??)
  2. love the open door system best, but would love to try the ets system out aswell.
  3. upto now its always been my janssens but i have had other breeds and not given them chance, give them away and they have gone on to breed outstanding birds,i have the gaby pigeons now aswell as my janssens so ime looking forward in trying these out.
  4. i would really go on how the pigeons is performing year after year,if he starts coming behind its loft mates or starts to fly around before entering the loft, then i would stop him and put him to stock, providing he is bred from the best and holds a good racing record.
  5. stuart ,thats a bargain of a life time, that makes the cock full brother to lover boy & loverman 1st national netherlands double superstar champions.plus a g.son of commander bond of cees suijkerbuik.Great stuff

    van der wegens

think you are right, thats the first thing i thought of when i read it also.
  10. Regarding stock bird selection does anybody go by clear toe nail on straight coloured pigeons ie blues and cheqs with no white feathers at all for there breeding potential, ive used this method for years and must say have selected some fantastic breeders using this method, but must have more than 2 white toes on there feet.Les
  11. ime sure swilcox sold some on here other week, might be a good idea to ask him bud as he might know some who flyes them.
  12. not sure but i think he is a middle-long distance flyer max.

    van der wegens

T.3 has some great van der wegens,he bred a few for me and out of them came a first combine winner 2955 bird n/w wind, she had time to land on the house roof then the loft top then into the loft to be timed in.CLASS OR WHAT.
  14. I WOULD SAY 95MDS WOULD BE GOOD ON HARD DAYS BUT IN CLEAR WEATHER.THE OLD GOLD EYES ARE VERY GOOD ON MERCKY DAYS AND HEAD WINDS.
  15. class with a double C.
  16. I love timing the birds in by hand but sometimes feel its scaring the youngsters into racing home,i once had a good sootjen cock spoilt when my mate grabbed him wrong in the loft, one week he was 1st club 1st combine, then week after 1st club 2nd combine, the week he was grabbed he was 2nd club ,2nd combine. After that he was never the first pigeon and would never trap straight up.I agree with the e.t.s system.
  17. what breed are they bud,ime always interested when there fed topping birds.
  18. No 4 is a real cracker ,nice 5th circle there, whats it bred.i like my janssens to have this type of eye as they always breed the fast ones.

    Spooky hens

ive had this problem 2 years on the trot at this time of the year, and i have realised what the problem was,i live near prince of wales colliery and noticed since the neighbours cut there trees back hawks tend to pass along them and in winter there hunting nearer to the houses, this sets the pigeons off fast as it spooks them, when the trees were there i couldnt see this.
  24. There are that many genes in a pigeon it will take a long time for inbreeding to show its good and bag sides, basically if you have very good pairs then yes go ahead and do it,just look at the sootjens base pigeons pedigrees they are very inbred but still breed fantastic pigeons, not sure but i think M&D EVANS use this type of breeding method.
  25. What a pigeon,not many like this come available.Les
