  2. Yep long the 'Longest Day' and traditions! Regardless what commonsense dictate these are maintained... with the silly 'Always donr it! ... Good enough for our fathers' and the longets day' etc. Lerwicke is a prime example for the longest day.

Yep so if 20 pairs were released within a short time of each other and met and bred, the RSPB would be culling I think and there would be the likes of Bill ODDIE - CAN'T stand him - spouting what a terrible evil hey were. Not like when he spouts that pigeons are of benefi... 'As hawk food only'!
  4. About right that I'd believe but ... And EVERYONE, even workers have been devastated when buisnesses / company's / concerns have failed, especialy after many years of striving to may hings work or continue to pay. But most live stock is born to be slaughtered, and most are sold 2/3/4 times before that, so let's not shed a tear and believe that there is any such bond between them and the owners. That would indeed in it's self be very sacrimental and silly in the first place... for they would never sll on!
  5. Officials are trying to trace how the latest outbreak of foot and mouth occurred as initial tests indicated the strain of the virus was the same as the one which infected two herds last month. Chief veterinary officer Debby Reynolds said the strain infecting cattle near Egham, Surrey, was "generally" the same as the one which caused the August outbreak near Pirbright, some 10 miles away. SUPRISE SURPRISE ...!
  6. Or passed out the back door for cash ... like the first lot seemed to be.... then excused like.... but where there is money there are unscruplous crooks, and as the good book says 'The love of money is the root of all evil'

Make your mind up Eagle owl. first 30 years pigeon keeper and 20 years owls... then and I quote 'i have a life times experience of eagle owls and birds of prey same as racing pigeons' so just what is it"! I for one don't see you as genuine sorry, so as such I will endeavour to ask thoses with Eagle owls where and how to buy them, also if they will breed youngsters etc.

Be that as it may Eagle Owl ... the huntnear here has had no problem with dogds attacking their bird... used to catch a cornered fox... not that simple so is inaffected and not worth a mention. The owl with plenty of food in the sticks will certainly not be interested in being near populated locations. Further I have no time whatsoever for the RSPCA whom only ever show with a collection tin afdter a story in the News.
  9. Golly just look at all the industries ythat have had to see all their hard work go up for nothing! Boot and shoe, Steel works, Car workers etc. and as that evil one said' If you can't make you buisness pay, pack up and find something that will pay' ... Farmers excepted of of course'! O dear ole Maggie. So don't anyone spout cobblers about all their hard work. That is like the 'Archers' and every day occurrance. Just seems that we have to bale out those that have a bob or two...
  10. I mm rural Shaddow, and from my post I'd thought that that was obvious! It is best way forward to start anew.... and this is the best time for it to go up in flames as you say! Another life line for farmers that can't - don't need to - make ends meet. Paid too much for digging ditches and growing hedges - though that is a boon - and getting paid for just the crops showing. New ventures around the corner paid for via Tax Payers money as we again fork out to bale out those that see the light and smell the coffee. There is enough food grown - and distroyed - to feed 20 billion people, and there is only 6 & 1/2 billion in the world.... and we don't need live stock nor arable farms, so we will fund yet again more Farmers to start new ventures.
  11. Seem they are determine to set it off. Thought the last lot - or same brigade - got close to getting caught! But where there is a way there ... Personally, like many mre I am of the oppinion that 'Money' is needed again, thoiugh the Goverment are onto them.... just proving it!

Yes it ia legal to own an Eagle Owl. Yes one did apparently fly at a dog.... so what! They are basically just a Owl and perfer the peace and quiet of the country side. Yes I do know some that have them. Fox hunting brigade for instance - I am not a fan of ox hunting, nor nec anti - and Eagles Indian birds of prey are use here regular. I believe Eagle Owl is a RSPB sypathsizer ot best, or even high in that chain.
  13. Realistic, and 100% correct. We do need to be zealous in our relationships with the general Public. Who knows no only a good name, but even a new member sometimes. And like Ted I see no reason for me to banter on this any longer suffice to say 'Well Done Ted, good on yer'!

    BARLEY

Good for the distance, and great as a blood purifyer... careful not to over do as I aften warn. If they get fat on barley you have a hard timr getting them back in shape.
  15. Rather silly that... less than a % indeed a fraction of a percent.
  16. After races sulking :'( and then after race season dreaming ;)lol
  17. Because you aren't of importance ... other than to bolster the privileged ones coffers. Rose I agree ... but then those that fly in reality for a decent 'Section' places get it put up them via moving them into Eastern sections. To save costs is one silly scenario... How when the birds are taken 50 miles or more to THEM! The best being 'Well you don't have many flyers your way now ... and it is getting less every year'! Not surprised eh, when LIKE the NFC tried also, to give many a 150 mile front! Centre screwed big time every time. So if the centre can't have a sensible section, - and it costs just as much as any one else to send - you end up just flying against the odd member that bothers in your Club / Fed, indeed the Fed / Club are most like at the same site, and use to take our birds, and remarkably every year less bothered to race with the Nationals and have the birds duplicated back into the club. Once every member was a member, then fewer till now 90% don't both, indeed only 6% or less. And they call them 'National'. Better chances / prizes are in a box of cornflakes!
  18. Mike has a struggle to lie straight in bed I reckon. Like I say the excuses are often incredulous. NRCC won't liberate unless it's an absolute nec if any east in wind, no matter how slight. These concerns do, and have always catered for the priviledge few, the rest are there to make up numbers and bolster the coffers. The reasoning that they can't control the weather etc. is valid of course. But just what has that to do with where and when the Liberate? Further and more importantantly what has that to do with Boundries and section!!! I resigned and save much money better spent on feed, training and loft improvements that waste money on 'PipeDreams'. Rather fly against 3 - ten times more in fed than in National sections where members are nigh 150 mile to mile East!
  19. Don't know how to repair them.... must have a word with a 'Handy man' I guess lol... : ;D No that pair is finished together.
  20. Most - sooner or later - realise that the bigger clubs put those in 'Well Positioned' benefits first! Obviously those in favourable positions far out weigh those not, in numbers. This is where they have the cake and eat it, and of course their bread is buttered. This is made so overwhelmingly clear when one considers that some fed - quite a lot actually - fly more pigeons each week than so called National do every so often. Let alone combines and concerns like the Up North etc. Through, and increasingly more so now, they cater for the blocks and totally ignore the 'Lesser placed'! Why they forever collared the sections 'Pools' where ever possible via splitting them up and placing them with the more fortunate. By golly and what crap excuses for injustices they used! Like the bigger sections should fly for more ... well they did for more easy in them.... hence more and more leave and silly scenarios used to explain away their selfishness. Like the NRCC... or East Coast Club. No0w if in predominately West in wind they vote that Kidderminster should fly against Lowestoft!!! and they wonder why the masses have left in droves. 7 in Northants fly the NRCC!!! Purely because of the greed of placing them in the same section as Lowestoft, Norwich Kings Lynn and Lincoln lol. Then one asks why they don't bother sending their money each race to bolster their' coffers! At least they should have fair and just section which is what the majority fly ... well did fly for! And when one looks at the numbers Feds and the like send each week, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to wake up and smell the coffee.

    CATS

Seen ferrets bolt cats when cat was in rabbit burrow, which is more often than one would believe, but wouldn't give a ferret much chance against a cat normally. Had a weasel once surprise a cat of mine.... saw it dart under a sledge, I thought it was a mouse, so I lifted the sledge and it took of with the cat after it. Golly was it quick when it attacked, took the cat by complete urprise, but then lost the fight. Tried to stop the cat but ...
  22. True Jimmy, was strange though, dry, feathers etc. just didn't feel right, but hard to know just what was what, but the legs and feet being so 'Meat less' and thin persuaeded me he didn't eed it ...

  24. Get a couple of pairs, best moree allows and as near the tree as you can. A few others as rearers. x MOTHERS AND SONS ETC. ETC. AND DON'T race the youngsters. Do the same with another pair same time. Cross the youngsters.... same each year, Blood kept to breed, crosses to race.
