    free loft

A cracking start for anyone ... new flyer or old. Brilliant offer, and hope someone takes it up. Be quiet Tammy lol. :'( : ;D ;D ah eventual got there lol.
  2. Like most 'Land Workers' now of course, and several 'Agency' workers, let alone the little groups picked up on the corner... or bays. Exploitations for monetry gains with no conscience, rife now at it has always been I guess.
  3. Don't think the goverment workers or the farmers for that matter are monkeys, more the ole boys club and the horay henry crap that look out for each other.... after all it is only us plebes paying ... And thatcher was a prime example with her 'If you can't make your buisness work.... Find one that you can'! Unless your a Farmer etc.!
  4. Naw it's true.... Man finds human leg in smoker Purchase at auction results in macabre discovery Updated: 12:08 a.m. ET Sept 26, 2007 MAIDEN, N.C. - A man who bought a smoker Tuesday at an auction of abandoned items might have thought twice had he looked inside first. Maiden police said the man opened up the smoker and saw what he thought was a piece of driftwood wrapped in paper. When he unwrapped it, he found a human leg, cut off 2 to 3 inches above the knee. The smoker had been sold at an auction of items left behind at a storage facility, so investigators contacted the mother and son who had rented the space where the smoker was found. Story continues below ↓advertisement The mother, Peg Steele, explained her son had his leg amputated after a plane crash and kept the leg following the surgery “for religious reasons” she doesn’t know much about. “The rest of the family was very much against it,” Steele said. Steele said her son, John Wood, plans to drive to Maiden, about 35 miles northwest of Charlotte, to reclaim his amputated leg, police said.
  5. Well that should, and I have no doubt, certainly help spread it around a bit ... quicker too I guess.
  6. Just leave the V pecrches up and a ginea pig on the floor. They won't sit on the floor as the guinea pig is inquisative and goes over to them. Take out the pig when feeding.
  7. I don't understand the the query you don't understand!
  8. It will be spreaded, no doubt about that. Just look at the price supermarkets are buying in at. Never mind that owners fall in love with their crictars, they are sold on a merry go round and they seldom see them to get to love them. Feed them etc. Then look at how long all the important things that have to be done over the next few months.... and no costs refunds, or extra monies to be had.... Golly it will be a blessing for most again. Seems that the goverment are resigned that they can't lower theprice, and it is a lot more than Tesco's and co will give them and that's for sure.
  9. This is from another site of course. But I can't see any logic in all these faternal screw brain idea's. Pigeons are built, function different from Sheep and everything else nigh except a pigeon. Quote: I use Beyers’s feed. When my pigeons are not training during winter in connection with birds of prey, I deviate from this way of feeding because I don’t want them to get fat. So I feed the pigeons winter carrots which they don’t like very much by the way but they have to eat them. In addition to the carrots they also receive a mixture consisting of 50% of barley and the usual feed. Thus, I keep my pigeons nicely on weight. Apart from the filled feed box during the racing season I’ve been giving my racing pigeons a mixture of grated cheese and grinded peanuts for 25 years. The last couple of years I’ve been adding sheep’s fat to that cheese and peanut mixture. To be perfectly clear: 60% of peanuts, 30% of cheese and 10% of sheep’s fat. This supplementary feeding is especially important to fill their need for animal protein. Furthermore, my pigeons regularly receive vitamins mixed with the feed. And of course they get fresh grit and minerals every day. http://www.pipa.be/artikelsnew/differentwriters/koopman/koopmaneng.htm What does this mean sheep fat ?how it is fed to pigeons.i think this means maybe fat rendered from the tail of the sheep or butter make sheep milk.sorry for my bad english. Regards Left his name out.
  10. A watch maker, indeed a master, enjoy... http://www.kids4truth.com/watchmaker/watch.html
  11. Many fanciers feed cheese in grated form or cut little cubes but I'd be worried about the salt content. Still some perform very well such as Gerard KOOPMAN. But it's not this or that fad that is really important. Tom mentioned a few weeks ago that one needs health and a balance between the feed one supplies and the work the birds are doing. I think that this was very well put. So salt is a no go for me. Yes and of course lice are a no go at shows. Don't know about Belguim shows though. Perhaps Steve could enlighten us there.
  12. Gary Edmunds, never more than 12 w/h cocks! He won everything nigh every week, clubs, fed and opens. for about 6 seasons running till he sold out.
  13. Brill great reading.
  14. Yep and a diluted spray of dettol. Jimmy says ...'.... i dont think the odd lice is too much bother, its red mite that's the killer, there are many that say garlic is effective for lice , but spraying your loft with duramitex does the trick ...' Couldn't agree more. Also out side of club members in the club moaning, lice are great for cleaning feathers and keeping them in tip top shap....

    BARLEY

Yes I'd agree with the 'Moult part', I like a little linseed before feeding, and about 20% protein in their feed. Also a wide variety with plenty of little seeds. My birds are flying non stop now, and are in moult of course, but I like that as I feel it pumps the heart and circulates everything, and that to me, has to be good.
  16. Time now to prepare to lose the birds. No wing stamp etc. after moult. Send them with a bit of a chill in the air, hardish days. Make it a little tough - as much as you feel you can / dare ... Make presents of those that are reported and / or get shot off. Only birds wanting to be in your loft will be there come next breeding seaso ... that is the best start you will have... 24 is a big team with a lot of waste and dead flyers. - May be breeders... just may, but at least you are only spending time and effort with a reliable start. Then good clean grub and water, fresh air and freedom of flight and you will have given your birds every chance to shine... Bet your standards will soar too, whether good enough then is up to the birds!

    BARLEY

So with barley different things / add ons, at different times.

    BARLEY

Yes wheat and barley used to be the thing, and still is. Main reason back then was two fold, lean and mean and a all the farmers has a few sacks about - tax free etc. - was very cost effective. Never saw a fat runner win a marthon yet, and the carbs are right, the blood in god shape. Two things are needed for a bird - like us - to do well and be fit! Clean, clear blod to cart the oxygen etc. around te system. Clear pipes for both air and blood. So a little after a race is cool too. Barley is a natural Blood purifier. During the racing season, one of the best sugars to use is fructose which along with glucose, is found in honey. You can also buy it pure in a health food store. There is a high biological priority to convert fructose to fat for the upcoming race. So the use of honey or pure fructose for one or two days maximum ahead of shipping day can help to fuel the system for the race. The only thing I'd give on shipping day is clear water or water + probiotic* (to insure that a good level of friendly bacteria is in place to block out any bad organisms picked up during shipment.) * Not so sure that they are any good in reality now, indeed I feel they may well do more harm than good over a perod of time, so have just about knocked them on the head. Use after a treatment? ! Well yes, BUT only as long as I feel it isn't bolstering the bird(s) up. I much perfer after any illness cured the bird(s) to show just what their cnstitution is made up like. A good constitution in birds is of the utmost importance to any successful loft in my oppion.

    Ventilation

Could well be a pointer of fact to take note of the 'System' one adopts! Natural will need diferent from W/ H!
  20. Don't believe that one personally. Don't seem to hold water, but we certainly have bred into them how to get lost, and that's fer sure.

    late birds

With patience, and room, Late breds are often the best birds. Just look at % wise and one has to agree. Bred in the pink, and easy early tosses, a couple of 100 mile races first year - following April when the sun has been out and no cold winds, and year after they will do the buisness from anywhere.

    late birds

And a comment from a mate in Canada '... We cleaned up OK. We got our first Mac bird at 3:07 but it doesn't count. It has a dead band on it. (Had a lot of bands this year that allocate on the Express club set but won't read on the traps at home) Barry W said his club also had that problem this year.

    late birds

Birds have won a race at 7 weeks! Not mine of course, but personally I never start train till after they have finished roaming and the eyes have colour.
  25. But - like children - they love and if too far from home will be full of zest by early next morning. So I believe they choose to be care free and not com home. Likewise old birds, they don't stay lost, if they want to home they will... yes sometimes elements, whatever cause, may decide they can't make it on the day etc. But they then decide whether to home or not! My firm belief.
