  1. Yes Andy, I am over the moon regards the Laura Muir and Laura Weightman. To do a 2 minute 3 seconds mid way was phenomenal, Then a 23 second 200 yards... augers belief. Fantastic! Those time would have beaten most in the heats and finals of the 800 yards and 200 metres respectively. Ok a slow start, but by golly did she pick it by the neck. With a European Indoor double and a World Indoor double in the past 18 months, that’s now five significant medals in a short period for Laura to surely silence any lingering doubters on her awesome quality. Still a youngster in real terms too. With many other Scots performances it certainly was a day for the scots … Mind some English squeezed a result in or two. Yep a step forward for British onwards movement.
  2. Now I ask again. Layman terms, vaccinations are when given a small dose of whatever. This being that the body, defends and sort as such out. Also, the affected - in this case the pigeon builds up an anti dope and passes this on to any off spring. Now if, as it seems, very many fanciers have this Young birds sickness every year. hence I presume the youngsters are being bred by the birds that have already had, or at least once had, the y/b sickness them selves. If so ask your self's why they aren't they immune? In dogs many... especially pedigree dogs, though being injected can, and do still contract Parva. and die or put down. Now, as any Vet will ensure to you, that mongrels walking the streets aren't affected, though had it, or even carriers, but never suffer so much as a sneeze!
  3. True Froog Sadly! Many such sayings and adages. Does it really make a fancier feel better? Most, if not all are just lame crutches of solace, comfort or consolation in a time of great distress or sadness. Do people really become clever in hindsight I often ask? in this event, there may well be a lot of empty perches tonight... sad. I sat in the conservatory this afternoon with Joyce. Some thunder and lightning . I watch as the hail stones and heavy rain bounced 4 or 5 inches of the roofs and pavement. I saw some street pigeons (In fine fettle are these pigeons, they get fed two times a day, have freedom of the air and a very good natural life over the way - possibly a fly away or two of mine sit huddled up looking none too glad. Gloomy really. Saturated! I said to Joyce 'I'm glad I'm not having to fly through this'. Many will go down, some even 2 or 3 times battling.. maybe lost ,,, trying to get home. Experience! One that they can certainly do without in my book. Those that get home, will fear such a time again … many good birds will have been ruined today / week - end I fear. In regards pigeon fanciers, relate an haunting epitaph that Floyd Patterson wrote. Exchange boxing for pigeon racing: It's easy to do anything in victory. It is in defeat a man reveals himself. If you have millions of pounds, you have million of friends .., (supposedly) It's like being in love with a beautiful woman. She can be unfaithful, she can be mean, she can be cruel, but it doesn't matter. If you love her, you want her, even though she can do you all kinds harms. it's the same as pigeon racing, it can do all kinds of sorrow and hurt... but you still love it'. Do we really learn by our mistakes, by our bad judgement? remember, to every one else you are 'Them'. But to yourselves you will think your not, you are you
  4. Maybe you could :emoticon-0137-clapping:
  5. Now, due to the weather, and obviously beyond our control, this week – end it could well be a bad race, or worse. Today, or all week, one has had the chance to think about sending, if they want to or not. Some might say, and others follow to spout the same 'I've got my pigeons to race... if I wanted pigeons to sit around looking pretty I would have Fantails'. Now I'd wager, come Saturday night or after, if it is a smash or such, if many then feel that they lost some good birds 'Others' will be blamed. Yes one and many. Whims of what and could / should etc. spouted. Countless moans and grievances will abound... Maybe one should look in the mirror ask questions of what and why and what and could be thought about. But don't whinge and moan.... you paid to send then, not paid for others to take the flake.
  6. Fantastic! I am well pleased for you Walter.
  7. Will be flying down the coast most of the way. Depend on strength of the wind. Strong winds will send many over the continent. Other between 3 - 15 miles out over the water.
  8. eastcoaster you have hit the nail on the head. Maybe you remember when the Gas and Electric boards advertised big time how to save energy and cut costs. True I kid you not. The all the bills when up. After a rig ma roll of finding out why it was stated 'The profits went don the share holders complained so we had to hike the prices. every one now should be happy. We are saving energy and the share holders are making more money on their investments'. True
  9. In 1976 the water boards here about stated they were going to pump water from the 'Under water lakes around Loughborough and Nottingham Have vast clean water lakes. This they did, but didn't use, but is in place. They added the cost to our rates etc. This has been in place yonks … likewise I'd wager in many more locations. They never mention it now though But have had many hose pipe banns since. All to do with making, or saving PROFITS! You know, take a look at the amount of water, unused or tapped, in the mines now dysfunctional. they can soon drain them when wanting to use or open cast eh! Gravel / coal etc. etc. cleanses the water, don't need much added etc. Beside where does the water flow when heading to the lakes to be used? If not adding money for cleansing they add for 'Future'! Its a sad, expensive joke.
  10. Ok, most don't take any notice. No one would stop watering their pigeons etc. Just a little regards this. Pigeon Fanciers are classed as 'Live Stock' so as such the bann doesn't affect us.
  11. Still who can blame him? has some real easy fights to manipulate, like Tyson Fury, his cousin etc. and others and will stay champ.
  12. But then we all knew that eh! Well Josh certainly isn't wild about it lol. He MUST wait a few years yet before he does that … unless wants some bigger bucks for the real pain! Britain's Anthony Joshua will defend his world heavyweight titles against Russian Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium on 22 September. The 28-year-old unified the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles with a unanimous points win over New Zealander Joseph Parker in Cardiff in March. Unbeaten in 21 professional bouts, he now faces 38-year-old Povetkin, the WBA champion from 2011-2013. Povetkin knocked out David Price on the Joshua-Parker undercard in Cardiff.
  13. Make the most of it eh! Hot weather supposedly back after a couple of days.
  14. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/news/signs-of-possible-match-fixing-in-wimbledon-men’s-doubles/ar-AAzXDH7?ocid=spartandhp Money for starters prestige and bribery etc. etc. Been going on since the year of dot. Indeed every game / sport it appears … Mind that is because it is harder to hide, and money / back handers has risen till it depends who is being paid / making the most, worthwhile.

many a time one hears, or experienced birds released from same point -- yes often same fancier releasing 10 minutes or so apart. One lot home safe and sound in no time... others disastrous... and that can be either release!

https://www.facebook.com/benoit.cailliez/videos/470310883417507/?t=0 I wonder just who's those birds released just prior belonged too? Must have been from basket / carrier boxes. Not strays by golly. I'd want to know if I was in that race. Good to see … Or not so. Them transporters want a kick up the jacksee. Birds fly out and collide. should be a very wide circle if MUST be. Or in a single line best of!! the reason some moaned about single line was the crap scenario of 50% of the birds let off facing the wrong way. Gosh remember when the rail way lines was nearly half a mile long, but can't recall then carriages being opened both sides. But what ever they nigh ALWAYS joined up and circled then broke and circled again.

  24. Fahrenheit to Centigrade 65 Fahrenheit is 18.3 centigrade! 68 Fahrenheit is 20 Centigrade! Was hot 30 years ago! 30 Centigrade is 86.8 Fahrenheit! and getting hotter today. If one believes that our gallant friends don't our help - which we can help … then I'm saddened by the fanciers and grieve for our so - called sport!
