You've been waiting for them with bated breath, so without further ado here are the 2008 Darwin awards. Eighth Place In Detroit , a 41-year-old man got stuck and drowned in two feet of water after squeezing his head first through an 18-inch-wide sewer grate to retrieve his car keys. Seventh Place A 49-year-old San Francisco stockbroker, who 'totally zoned when he ran,' accidentally, off a 100-foot high cliff on his daily run. Sixth Place While at the beach, Daniel Jones, 21, dug an 8 foot hole for protection from the wind and had been sitting in a beach chair at the bottom! When it t collapsed, burying him beneath 5 feet of sand. People on the beach used their hands and shovels trying to get him out but could not reach him. It took rescue workers using heavy equipment almost an hour to free him. Jones was pronounced dead at a hospital. Fifth Place Santiago Alvarado, 24, was killed as he fell through the ceiling of a bicycle shop he was burglarizing. Death was caused when the long flashlight he had placed in his mouth to keep his hands free rammed into the base of his skull as he hit the floor. Fourth Place Sylvester Briddell, Jr., 26, was killed as he won a bet with friends who said he would not put a revolver loaded with four bullets into his mouth and pull the trigger. Third Place After stepping around a marked police patrol car parked at the front door, a man walked into H&J Leather & Firearms intent on robbing the store. The shop was full of customers and a uniformed officer was standing at the counter. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up! and fired a few wild shots from a target pistol. The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, and several customers also drew their guns and fired. The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt. HONOURABLE MENTION Paul Stiller, 47, and his wife Bonnie were bored just driving around at 2 A.M. so they lit a quarter stick of dynamite to toss out the window to see what would happen. Apparently they failed to notice the window was closed. RUNNER UP Kerry Bingham had been drinking with several friends when one of them said they knew a person who had bungee-jumped from a local bridge in the middle of traffic. The conversation grew more heated and at least 10 men trooped along the walkway of the bridge at 4:30 AM. Upon arrival at the midpoint of the bridge they discovered that no one had brought a bungee rope. Bingham, who had continued drinking, volunteered and pointed out that a coil of lineman's cable, lay near by. They secured one end around Bingham's leg and then tied the other to the bridge. His fall lasted 40 feet before the cable tightened and tore his foot off at the ankle.. He miraculously survived his fall into the icy water and was rescued by two nearby fishermen. Bingham's foot was never located. AND THE WINNER IS... Zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt ( Paderborn , Germany ) fed his constipated elephant 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the plugged-up pachyderm finally got relief. Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded. The sheer force of the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked Mr. Riesfeldt to the ground where he struck his head on a rock as the elephant continued to evacuate 200 pounds of dung on top of him. It seems to be just one of those freak accidents that proves... 'sh** happens'

list of dodgy pigeon sellers for novices

Very true Ian, words of reality. I have seen lofts set up also from WORLD renowned fancier, that every one in club / fed, etc. except a****ole lickers, warned about. Nary ever seen a one that was worth a feather, let alone a cuppa of tea. Yet if I, like many others could, put HIS name up the place would errupt in scorn. Could without even thinking hard name and shame 6 or 7 off the top of my head! I often smile when I see people on site, this one included, heap praise upon them. Buying a 'Name' is worst even often than buying a bit of paper. Quote: It is reported that in the fall of 2007 Victor Vanlenzuela turned down two six figure offers for Sure Bet; the first $100,000 and a few weeks later the second, $175,000. . Could breed crap, I suppose, but more likely than not somewhere in the genes, with the right mating... Easy to say though when established '"Your best racers are your first birds home !- Your best breeders are their parents !" No there qualifications are needed... But one has to start somewhere. Just make sure the 'Name' isn't fobbing off proven culls to get some of his money back! Too many do, and you can take that to the bank. Some 'Name I see advertised well, Videos etc. and heaps of merits award, yes even on here, sells his old 'Family' that are now more than proven cra! Buys - or did do till my mate told him to sling his hook - of another fellow and dominates. Doesn't ever of course give any credit (Well he can't can he!) and was buying in big every season. and selling crap even bigger! Nah, with some, if they tell you the grass is green, best you go out and check it! P.s. 'Freebies and then swaps are often by far the best birds. -
list of dodgy pigeon sellers for novices

Have to agree with Duncan's above post. Louella has undoubtedly stood the test of time, and there ARE many very sucessful lofts set up with their birds. Even International, besides National winners. Other than that, the best policy is have a repore with the seller... if you hit it off, and feel you can trust and get along etc. go for it. latebreds of course are the best to have, if one is willing to bred first year and race youngsters, and then the parents year after. These are normally of the Race team and have at least proven to have been able to home. Of course a few light tosses helps, and a couple of 100 milers or so races first year. -
But you know by far the best way is Hand feed on cleaned floors. They peck as quick as it is laid down. As soon as on flies up to the perch, no more down. This also keeps loft maintaince down to a regular minium, get a good bonding with the birds. One on one great managerment. Trouble is for most, TIME.

Sorted. Sold the hen and done a runner lol ;D ;D

When feeding through the moult what do the birds draw on for feather production, what can we add to help tip top feather............? Flax / Linseed. A little before their main feed each day. A natural oil and a laxative. Both essential this time of the year. vinegar and garlic ... Garlic is a good proventive... like a pencillan in reverse lol. Viniger, well the juries out on that. Many, and I'm one that believes it has become a myth of imaginations. Often in this game, Things, either deliberately or want of a better word 'Follow the pack' get ctedi undeserve, and much the pigeon does INSPITE of. Best scenario would be to feed Chopped grass and green algae water / Plankton. Look at the beast thriving on grass, and the Blue wale etc. . but of course their systems are built for those feeds, Pigeos aren't.

Harky I know that, like most others on site do... I, personally feeI, that we don't want any and everything, everytime, being a 'Good cause time'. This is where I feel a line is to be drawn. And leave the closing till Monday as stated. Gordon Bennet you can't keep moving goal post to suit every bodies personal whim!
-
As for 'Donation' no pressure, let alone even discussion or POINNT should be entered into... that is a personal matter and best left to the person(s) who receive any winnings. In fact it's a cheap shot that saddens the 'Spirit which is intended'. Soon no one will bother ever putting a few bob up if after winning a little they are pressured to 'Give it AWAY'! Yes it is a blumming cheek, and has no bearing. And forget the 'Good Cause' scenario, there are thousands upon thousands worthwhile and good causes! Each and everyone must be allowed to choose when and where and what cause(s) they wish to support! But for gaul sake, lets for once be able to participate in a little enjoyment, regardless has trivial to some, with out the added burden to take away any little pleasure one derives!
-
Once agreed, useless and NOT right to change anything. Hence closing time is Monday etc. as said. Once said it is, or should be, so written. Remember a simple realist basic truth. When anything is put up, or promoted, people join on the terms as first agreed! Can't and should change the goal posta after. Why??? Well only one answer to WHY!!and that is BECAUSE, and in this case other many have joins, and some who have joined up wouldn't have done. Simple really, and no lee way for clever thoughts with hind sight! That can be 'Lessons learnt' for sure can only be for the next one!

What for sulking! ;D ;D

I'll go along with that.... whatever is the same alround for everyone. Yes I agree with Ted, it did, does add a little excite for anoher channel. Perhaps the P.c. reeing about was an unfortunate down side, but then again id didn't subtract from the overall project. So am happy with my lot.

Forget what they are off... just ask for the PERFORMANCE they may, or may not have done!

That is / are cool. I feel better than the usual Del barred ones loke I use.

Yeah, come on... anywhere bar near the Top lol ;D ;D

THE TALE OF THE ARAB FLIGHT CREW Written by To The Point News Friday, 16 May 2008 The brand spanking new Airbus A340-600, the largest passenger airplane ever built, sat in its hangar in Toulouse, France without a single hour of airtime. Enter the Arab flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine runups, prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi. The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area. Then they took all four engines to takeoff power with a virtually empty aircraft. Not having read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an empty A340-600 really is. The takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the cockpit because they had all 4 engines at full power. The aircraft computers thought they were trying to takeoff but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats , etc.) Then one of the ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor to silence the alarm. This fools the aircraft into thinking it is in the air. The computers automatically released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward. The ADAT crew had no idea that this is a safety feature so that pilots can't land with the brakes on. Not one member of the seven-man Arab crew was smart enough to throttle back the engines from their max power setting, so the $200 million brand-new aircraft crashed into a blast barrier, totaling it. The extent of injuries to the crew is unknown, for there has been a news blackout in the major media in France and elsewhere. Coverage of the story was deemed insulting to Moslem Arabs. Finally, the photos are starting to leak out. See photos below Email me if you want to see the photo's of the wreckage. ………..

'Oh how it hurts, deep inside, when ...... should I tell' lol ;D

It is great - at the moment at least - with services being tightly contested. Yes Amtrack did have problems which of course goes without saying, as these others will also no doubt. But '... it is a ill wind that blows no good' and I can't help but feel these new serices with have heard and listen and learnt from Amtracks mistakes and have their stolls set out proper and accordingly. Like I say, 'A fool learns by his own mistakes ... A wise man by others'! Lets hope so. P.s. Duncan, not sure who's shares i wish to invest in yet lol ;D ;D

As to 'Location' it is a simple fact that the wind on day has a major bearing. As for Feds / Sections / nationals etc. it is simple to just look at the positions on any given race day - and the Wind direction. Yes we, like most, have a predominately West / west in the wind. Most can tell you where the wining section etc. will be before the liberation, unless of course there is a radical difference in the morning. Why so many have moved to their location. Or would one have us believe that certain areas have a canny undoubted nature of producing winners! Suppose it could be in the water : P; D Simplify over stated. Birds liberated at Thurso in a North West Wind. One flyer is in Lowerstoft, another in Holyhead, What odds are available? Indeed which one won't you be able to have a bet on? To say, refer otherwise is ludicrous. Indeed another simple reason why nationals have so few sent in reality. Section bespoke for area. Arguments that more send in that area … well of course they do, they have a chance of at least a merit with a decent section, if not better! This is further obvious, because no one, who hasn’t a decent chance of a decent section bird at least, will not bother sending! They are and will be also runs, and their’ money wasted would be better spent on feed, Training etc. etc. I mean does anyone want to fly against - like in our NFC - fanciers a 100 - 150 miles to their East? :-/ :-/ . Answer they don't! Another reason why Nationals are regarded as a waste of time regards merit, and further I'm afraid will soon laughable. It is only for most even now, that one realistically fly’s for a decent meriteous place in section... those able to. 7, yes just 7, in three counties now fly with the NRCC! So even now as they reverse their selfish, and ludicrous decision to have us fly against the Likes of Norwich / Kings Lynn, etc. etc. the damages is already done. And why was it done in the first place? For two reasons, One because sadly they could, and two, so muggings could bolster their coffers... no ego's as there is no taste in beating nothing!
