Strange how it seems that the wealthier have a naturual righr eh! Top Brass in forces / their widows quickly paid out ... ground troops drawn out. Bankers etc. The layman has to get in a long line of pitfalls and put offs to achieve eh! Yes it's the rich... and poor take the blame'.... More like naow, carry the can and prop up the 'Haves'.

You know, in real terms, just looking at, and going through the previous posts, one could quite easily count on one hand those that would stand up and try to put across any idealistic, practical way, of combating the Hawk Problem. Indeed even muster a way forward that they may well support and get of their bums to try and make some in roads to our entire problem. Never mind the ‘Digs, slanting, or Pete’s nigh raving at me, let’s face it, JUST who will, is going to put them selves out a little in this regards?! 90 odd percent are quite able to put forward a reason why not too… Many times this is indeed ‘Fodder’ been fed cleverly via the hawk brigades… which again is an easy way to sit at a desk and press keys, and hope it will go away. Well I will be back in touch with a few MP’s again. And a few EMP’s, hopefully *expletive removed* a conscience or two at the ‘Pigeon’ lovers in Brussels etc. Yes, alas a lack I know the very answers that will come back … ‘love to help, but need support from the Pigeon fraternity… they are too heavy to carry, won’t help themselves’ etc. And as for the people in Joe Public… well as they don’t know, realise there is a problem in this regards, there is no show boating here to be had.’ In other words no mileage to be gain, especially as several others need to get on board before a ‘Champion’ for the cause will step forward. I know, as you all should know it, and worse still the laughing lot at the RSPB know it! So most will again while away waiting for that rich idle businessman that their dreams have, giving all up to come to the rescue. Defence against Foxes... Pee up the sides and corners a few times... Never shoot at them and leave in peace... Seems foxes will leave you alone if you don't antaganise them ... Ofcourse .... But you can use a 1/2 inch Or better still even a 1/4 inch hole / mesh to go around the bottom. Cats, foxes etc. MINKS ETC stoats weasel besides your birds building nest underneath your loft... all a great pain which can be avoided and still allow the breeze / wind to do it's job. Like wise top... sparrows etc. etc. can be a blumming nuisance. Some say come in and eat / desiese etc. Mesh it off mucker, better be safe than sorry.

Whilst I won't use mine against others that can't / won't / afford or whaever in one club ... I'll certainly have one for the clubs that MOST members have one. Just couldn't afford not to in relationship of giving them too much advantage.

Owen I agree wholeheartedly with every word you say. You know.... heaven forbid, but oin reality I'm suprise the 'Animal Right' actavists' haven't took a closer look into the very thigs you have mentioned above. Cats, in their own right are a needed sauce of control regards vermin. When the 'Cats of Rome' had a Ken Livingston approach and got shot off... they quickly had to bring them back - indeed got cats from anyway and which and let them 'ROME' 'Hence the lincense to Rome' Cats are accountable for any persons animal / pet / or bird here. I, for one, would certainly not like to see any species eradicated, only a apt and sensible balance acheived. Likewise I had never thought about, let alone remove any persons cat. It is their fundemental right to have one etc. the same as I have for pigeons. But surely enough is enough in regrds Hawks/ falcons and the likes of magpies and sqirrels!

Have bought Unikon. Why, well be around asking for 12 years or so, Tipes bricon Tareus etc. etc. But seems in the main Unikon is most user friendly. Had some correspondence with a fellow on here that deals with the three main ones every week club wise. Marginally went for Unikon as being best User Wise. So have bought the Champ 500 with pocket clock etc. etc. and 50 rings, £513 including VAT. Will of course only use it in one, maybe later two clubs. The others are not using in the main ET's... likewise the National marking stations. Seems no one want to learn it on the comittee, so never mind lol. Only using it in the other club, as they are all on it - unikon - and I already give them 12 to the East. So enoughs enough I guess. Other club has 50% members on ET's... Bricon, so may use it there when a few others get them ...

But would folks be so eager to just tag along and chuck their cash in Willy - Nilly if they knew that their money was actually harming, desecrating the very thing(s) that they wish to protect! I think not, indeed a big backlash would be the reaction I believe. Further any and MOST MP's need and are always looking for a Cause to champion. Saving our hedgerows and Bird life could very well, indeed would be a cause to champion! And smudger, if my writings on this subject, or others is a bit strong, even forceful, then I apologise not, for that is how I feel about it. I am fortunate not to have any hawk problems in reality ... two / three tops in ten years. I do have one nest 80 yards away, and another the other side about 500 yards away or so. But that is by and by, I feel for all birds, and of course for fellow fanciers strongly in their plight. So if I offend, tough, it is far far better to say and offend, if only a little headway is gained, that tinker along with yes men and play follow the leaders and gain sweet Nothings.

Agree Jim.... lining own pocket and staying in the public eye. Glibbed tongued and two - faced. No doubt about that. SO that is why we must give them a wagon to wave from in the vote catching and 'Thing' to be remembred and associated with. The 'Do - Good aspect of saving the wild life and back garden birds, public awareness and THEN fighting for a worthwhile VOTE catching cause.... As a Renouned worldwide vet wrote me.... Yes have posted before ............. Roland: Yoghurt as a probiotic for pigeons - it's my understanding that the organisms in yoghurt are meant for the human digestive tract, and as such, they don't colonise the intestines of pigeons very well. The second point is that, according to a human pediatric gastro-enterologist whose seminar I attended not long ago, 90% of the organisms (if not ALL) in commercial yoghurt are dead when the product is purchased. So the product would not appear to be as useful for the digestive tract of either humans or pigeons as we'd like to think. (Home-made yoghurt might be an viable alternative. Preparation kits are often available in specialty shops and may reduce costs substantially.) This specialist recommended (for humans) to purchase acidophilus capsules from the refrigerator case in food or specialty stores, and NOT to buy the same product sitting on a shelf at room temperature. For pigeons, I think an avian-source probiotic would be best. Happy New Year! Â
