Think sharkfin hits the nail on the head here especially the pub or club bit. Because the remarks are faceless with no expression they can sometimes be taken the wrong way and the thin skinned can take it personally. I have NEVER encountered any personal agro on here but can believe it does happen due to "clashes of personalities" but we are mostly adults on here so surely things can be worked out amicably between ourselves instead of having to be policed/babysat. I think the rule we should make for ourselves :-/should be ONLY TYPE WHAT YOU (HONESTLY) WOULD SAY FACE TO FACE to another fancier. Possibly.... but as a member of the GOVERNING body, they can't refuse. urther I know of a local federation that emplores fanciers whether in a club or not, to join and fly with them. Have done so for 7 8 years so must be able and legal.

Yep, time to have some regular y/b sale, etc. etc. to raise some dosh for these birds! No two ways about that.... and they are Natives of this country. According to the BBC and also once here like they come under pretection etc. Jimmy has the rights and wrongs etc. at his finger tips if I'm not mistaken.

Two things, one forget the jealousy crap scenario.... and more importantly just take your birds to the club and have them send them to the race points. They can't refuse, but of course will have to pay the correct birdage. Believe you will already be a Fed member, so are entitled to have your clock etc. also done. Never mind the club.... your results etc. are up in print every week. And one hell of an added booster to you to do even better. Like one does for the Nationals. You have to be a member of the main governing body of course be it RPRA / Scottish /Welsh or whatever, but you would have to anyway.

The one site I believe it it's site, and has just been revived was Camanco. Yes many on here used it too, and no better site was there, or is there than what it was is in my oppinion ... t then what do I know lol. The archives are a wealth of knowleage and much wisdom, with a vast and varied wisdom, and thought provocative themes. This site now, is in my oppinion the number one! A bit too tame sometimes.... tends to be boring then, and it is great to see a bit of the ole heated views and debates.... Like I often say, this and any other site would struggle and go down hill fast without it in between some good sensible airing and pointers, heling hand and views.

I remember Berti Mee giving us a talk in - did so a few times, in regards football of course. A very apt point that he made, on more than one occasion, was the 'Left back' Every winger etc. literally ran rings around him. This started at school and local teams, from the age of say 9, he was always played a 'Last Stop' because he was very keen, but to be frank useless, or at best not very good. When 12 - 13 he'd improved to a stage where he got a few games on his own merit. Then of a sudden from 16 he became 'Gifted' and topside took him on. At 21 he was playing in the premier division. Why.... well he had 'Learnt' though not physically capable until say 14 - 15 he'd leant every trick in the book from these classy wingers etc. that incidentally go / went nowhere. Then applied - when able - to put what he had leant to good practice. Likewise the many that still never could play the part.... but learnt to 'Read the Game' and became good / great coaches, management. Likewise with our pigeons. THERE ARE umpteen reasons why a fancier never shines... mostly because of circumstances outside of their control... and then the ones that are more content to just enjoy their sport / hobby / pastime etc. and the odd swallow to them is a summer! Know a great fellow (Dave) that is very friendly with a crack flyer. They grew up together and always had and shared pigeons. One wins nationals, one has the same birds, same knowledge and enjoyment, but try as he may, and Dave’s mate has done everything to help him, they live just 4 miles from each other, Dave after countless years is still not a winner. has a beautiful 'Belgium' looking loft, every thing is sheer class... Same birds as his mucker, very enthusiastic.... But lacks a certain ingredient. Doesn't want it bad enough, yet his mate says that Dave is one of the most knowleable fancier in the country. His knowledge is second to none. U C also, many will see instantly what other will never see in a lifetime!

Don't really care what he has dne, good bad or indifferent. Doesn't in all reality matter a jot ... what he spouts, relays or informs, well that does, and in truth is all that does really matter. Might have the best brothers / sisters, racing family in the world and never actually owned or raced a pigeon.... now that wouldn't make him a Good / bad flyer, or a man with bad advice or knowledge would it!!!! :-/ Golly Angelo Dundee, never even ever put a boxing glove on! likewise many great coaches, Woodward for instance never played rugby, etc. etc. Just look at the 100's of such in them fields that have taught and set fields ablazened! No, sorry, the only reason 99% want to see his 'Form' is because thay A. Are worried that he may well be a 'Name' and B. Has done great and could put them to shame.... in other words, not confident in own ability, and nervous that he could be too well informed to tangle with. Crikey, spout what you think, believe and stand by it ... if corrected and you learn from it GREAT! If not... you ain't lost a bean or a minutes sleep! :o

Personally, If I was a fancier that wanted prestige, a few cards etc. then there would be nothing that would stop me gaining a 'One Upmanship' in this regards. As I say, is prevalent, will carry on being done, and obviously has benefits, regardless what many here would deem not, so good shall we say, but the fact is that it is effective, and will continue to be practised regardless of any so - called bad taste that may be aligned to it! Simply put it does work, is of a benefit, and many use this pratice.

Well interesting that ... By the way, Most, if not 99% of Sprint pigeons also have a Distance breeding .... Indeed any and nigh all good strains have distance birds as foundations. Any way, getting back to the one that took 3 weeks to home 500 odd miles... Well that would have been bred to 2 - 3 different mates here Why. Well only some much of each bird, from Parents etc. make up a whole. The ability to home has to be there. many - One often hears - have homers as to racers. Just what and how the parts we want to develope, and the parts to eradicate is all to do with the genes etc. Dominate ones that override the lesser ones. All birds, and ny pigeon needs and has to some degree traits, good and bad. The art is finding out what each and any trait a pigeon throws.... Hence the 'Feeders' that have bred champions and very many champions, good to great birds breeding crap. Yes, one may argue that by breeding and mating great birds together, sooner than later the loft will be full of great pigeons. This is also a fallacy. Gosh, if one goes around most sucessful lofts, winners are counted on one hand.... a flipping good loft is it that uses two hands. So developing the traits we want is the art. Some throw this which we like and want, others that which we like and want.... now finding and mating them that throw the trait equaelly as to what we strive for is the mark of a Great stockman. Very few have it. Many more than most.

That is the 'Lighting' System. Many do it, and on other threads never ever heard anything about flights being pulled not growing bac normal, indeed the contary that it doesn't harm at all. Darkness is realy restriction of sunlight. After June or so no problem. I have a natual dark y/b section. Out between 8 in morning and 4 -30 even in afternoon. Seems to be the better way. Don't know enough reality here to discuss it, just following a 'Named' flyer that does the same, showed me and suggested I do the same... See what happens eh.

Alf, had 2 youngster born end of June ... These flew most Races. End of for I put them straight in at the 140 miler of Northallerton.... In the September they flew Thuro! 469 miles. Like I say in Canada when there the y/b's were doing the season, and finishing with two BACK to back 400 odd milers.

Once in a hundred years ... well 28 years actually, but then what world cup have Wales ever won don't even need a finger to count that on lol. Mind like I say, Wales will never beat England again till after the next World cup! When they regroup again...Ain't seen much ever world wise so Taffies make the most of it ;D P. s. well done, and Like the good post above, I'll cheer on and be happy whenever any one of the Gt. British nations do well.
