  8. I like mine to have finished ranging and flitting around the roof tops before I start tossing them personally. yes does work well letting them out prior to basketing. If able, as mine will start this week, I will switch to feeding twice a day. 5 - 8th of ounzes of treats for each I see landing. Calling, even though in the loft, I spill it into the trough. Then I feed about 3 quaters - to even an ounce in evening. Yep sometimes let them back out first, sometimes not. Never out after thursday morning training. Mind after first race never out the loft after Wednesday.
  9. I would love to see a few web Cam of these happening. Think in the darker night we could have great showing on the big screen around the Camp Fires. Halls even where with a few wicked ladies took in bottles - or bought over the bar, we could have some great celebrations. Sing - a -long nights to warm the cockles of the heart with hopes of better racing and less troubled skies sought after with much vigour eh!. Indeed these great nights could easily be turned into 'Fund - Raising' nights to enable pain killers such as Ibuprophen to be bought cheaper via ordering vast quanities eh!
  10. It was because he was as he was, and who he was. His make up that made him so brilliant. I genuinely believe he picked the game of snooker up and place it where it was and became. The game had, I believe, faded badly after the 50's etc. His flamboant, his have a go at any shot abided with his tremedous skill was a breathe of fresh air. No two ways about that. Yes snooker owes him a place of gratitude. Yes and a deservedly high place in their' 'Hall of Fame'!

  12. Never knew until son in law went to a Falcon Display etc. etc. (His father is an ex pigeon man and he winds the hawkers up too lol) that peregrines NEVER miss out on killing and eating the head of a pheasant. He saw it happen at Rockingham Castle and the handler stated. there is absolutely nothing I can do till he eats the head... then he'll come back.... which is exactly what happened. Knew a fellow that cleaned up the foxes same way in a 20 mile radious via just leaving treat chicken heads about.

  15. i think that if its true that these birds are been poisoned, its disgusting, i was never invited to watch, but with the numbers been bred i doubt you would notice any difference, when its 146 lets have a party Niether was I, mores the pity..... Must be a cause for a celebration every 100 downed eh! Perhaps the RSPB would be so kind as to put up a Web Cam for viewing till our hearts are content eh! Now that would be nice eh! But alas alack it still means the 'Fancier' must get of his / her backside and stand up and be counted. I'll donate a bottle of Scotch for the first 100 done away with. Could catch on and will do the Irish and Scotch Whisky stilleries the world of good in these times of hardship... Gosh just imagine how it would / will hopefully - warm the cockles of the heart!

  17. Maybe if the sanctimonious Barstewards would get off their arzes and addressed the problem we could all live together maybe not in perfect harmony but acceptable or bearable Maybe they would still if A. Everyone did as Bilco and Co first, secondly and even now proposed / requested. If every single fancier did their' bit then it wouldnt be a problem. OH how so very true! Indeed they would be begging US to get around a table for talks! Can't for love of me understand just why the problem is still increasing ... Oh ofcourse, 98% want the shiney knight in White armour to rally and sort it out. Psst, there isn't one, never has been, and isn't it really about time he was put away with the 'Tooth Fairy'. WE all need to do our bit. NO two ways about that! So save the Rhubard juice, the Pain killers and get in some salt in. Time to make ome Mating Jackets etc. Best of all get some 'Goldern fleece' sheep dip. Make concerted efforts to preserve and save our beloved brds. One stint this winter alone would have you bathing in dreams of improved reality for the coming season. No spouting, just doing, actual action is what is needed.

    Mike Tyson

Haven't seen this posted suprisingly... if so, sorry. Boxer Mike Tyson visits Lincolnshire pigeon breeder Darren Peters said meeting Tyson was a day to remember Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has made a surprise visit to a Lincolnshire pigeon breeder. The 44-year-old boxer visited Darren Peters at his breeding stud in East Heckington on Tuesday afternoon. Mr Peters said he was stunned to get a call that Tyson, who it is thought has had an interest in pigeons since childhood, wanted to visit him. Tyson is in the UK doing a series of talks on his life and career and making a pigeon racing show for US television. Mr Peters, who has about 600 pigeons at his farm, said he received a call last week from Tyson's tour promoter asking if he could pay a visit. "With him (Tyson) being a legend and following his career it was hard to believe," Mr Peters said. "It was a big buzz and to be honest he thanked me. He didn't want to go, he loved every minute of it. He said he'd like to come back again. "He talked and asked lots of questions... he was really keen. It was a day to remember." Bird fancier He said Tyson spent a couple of hours at the farm. Stuart Howe, from Boxing Promotions Ltd, said Tyson had asked to see some racing pigeons on his day off and he suggested visiting Mr Peters because he was a friend of a friend. Mr Howe said Tyson "was very happy with the visit" and had said pigeons were his "passion". While in the county, Tyson also met with Lincolnshire boxer Callum Johnson. I hear Mike is popping over to yours on Monday evening !!

  23. Over all, and this is / has been tried and tested, 20 miles every day is great. Yet though I know this only, I am happy this season - though I lost a little bottle, and it took two chucks to get to 20 miles. i usually start them off at 35 miles. Will pop in now a couple of 45 milers, then it will be just 20 miles any direction every day. JMO
