    What Distance

Coolimans and Bussearts. SVR are obviously another tried and tested bird that abound 2 for a penny. Bussearts will do ANY distance depending on system. But at days end, you have to set up a system that suits you and what is practical and make the birds become suited to it. Yes of course losses will be high. Because many won't take to it. However if and when a regime is stuck to, then only the birds wanting and happy and content will be left. These will do the chores you've set them.

  9. Am inclined to think that they are Hobbie' as there are so many in the sames lake. Will be there later today with Binoculars. No good taking photo's as I ain't learnt how to put them up ... also haven't, believe it or not, a Digital camera since it was nicked 3 4 years ago when house got broke into.
  10. Of course didn't vote for. Costs the club money, members more and less prize money Let's face it Clubs, Feds, Almag, Combines all heve individual merits as to clubs, sections / Feds etc. etc. regardless hwere and when and with whom they are sent with. Should have had years ago 'Corridor Racing' where only a fraction of transporters were needed and a better location, meaning more merit was attainable, acheivable for ALL!
  11. Strange thoughts here eh ! All so very often we ALL hear, and rightly so I believe, where and when there is several different organisations / Feds Concerns etc. ALL liberating from the same point MNFC /NFS /BBIC BBC ETC. ETC where it would be more cost effective, and certainly make better sence for half or less of the transporter going!!! Yes would be in seperate racse - which I think possibly this was - or certainly will be. As far as I can relate this is a good step, indeed a great first and should be copied pronto via others. But I know as most will this will be out voted per usaul via members. Mainly because of their fear or 'Locations' and others having a step up! One club I'm in struggles to make ends meet regard sending and costs. Was sent each week and made money when another organisation took them. This club - which I
  12. Good points agreed. Will ask and look closer this week. Seems on reflection that may well be the case. They certainly clean up Lap Wings' chicks etc. Have 'Sand Martins' galore nesting there too ....

    That'S My Boy

Granson gets lost in the shopping centre. So he goes up to the man in uniform and asks 'Have you seen my Grand dad'? 'What's he's name' asks the security guy. 'Grand Dad'says my lad. 'Whats he like'? ask the security guy... My lad stops and thinks for a minute then replies' Er good whisky and big tits'.! That's my boy.
  14. Hobby cleared up 800 acres of conservationlist land of Lap wings etc. etc. in Lincolnshire. Said to be like hovers up the small life as the swept continously low ove the land. MaNy other species of birds to of corse. Then the RSPB set up a couple of pairs of Peregrines that cleared up the ducks. I read his whilst at the dentist in a Countryside mag.

  18. Karl wrote in reply to Charis Palmer on the Alberta Classic, after she posted ‘It is my understanding that Albendazole or Mebendazole may be harmful to pigeons. Quoting the http://www.birdmedicine.org/ she referred to. Which I’ve posted here. I don't think that there is a drug without any toxic side effects. This is why I would not administer a drug on the basis of a suspicion that the bird(s) may harbour an infection. The commonly used anthelminitic drugs Fenbendazole and Albendazole are toxic to pigeons. 410 pigeons of various species at San Diego Zoo and San Diego Wild Animal Park were examined alive or dead. All birds were healthy at the start point, and kept during a period of 45 days because of quarantine, relocation, or presale health cheque for observation. The symptoms looked for were weight change, leukopenia (too few white blood cells), bone marrow changes (less or more bone marrow than normal), small intestinal changes (injuries of the inner lining of the intestines, coursing diarrhoea and malabsorption) and survival. The results looked as follows: Treatment given Weight Leukopenia Bone Marrow Intestinal Survival No treatment Up 4,6 % 12 % 33 % Better All normal 91,7 % Albendazole Down 13,3 % 100 % 83 % worse 77,8 % injured 66,7 % Fenbendazole low Down 8,3 % 83.3 % 78 % worse 91,7 % injured 75,4 % Fenbendazole high Down 18,8 % 100 % 30 % worse 50 % injured 66,7 % What seems obvious is that both the drugs are disadvantageous to the pigeons. In all cases the pigeons loos weight after a treatment. Also, most pigeons develop leucopoenia. The fewer white blood cells in the medicated pigeons cause them more susceptible to bacteria and other microbial intruders. This might explain why the survival rate of the treated pigeons is lower then the untreated (controls). Most pigeons that died suffered from an infection. The bone marrow in involved in the production of blood cells, and in the treated birds the bone marrow was suppressed. Furthermore, the majority of the birds get more or less injured intestines, probably from these drugs. So, why should we give the pigeons one of these drugs? Actually, this report point very strongly that these drugs must never be used unless they are absolutely needed. If you think the birds have got worms, the droppings must be tested by a veterinarian or a parasitologist to confirm the diagnosis. The best would be to test the droppings from each single pigeon, and only treat the birds were worm eggs are found. If intestinal worm infection is diagnosed on the loft, cleaning is very important to get rid of worm eggs in the dung. If you want to give any medication, any remedy containing albendazole ( like "Valbazen") and fenbendazole (like "Panacur") should be avoided. Because chemical similarity, it is likely that also flubendazole (like "Flunebol"), is harmful to pigeons. Ivermectine (IVOMEC) might be a better alternative for pigeons. I have used this type of anthelmintic in my veterinary practice for 17 years and never seen adverse effects. However in-depth investigations on possible negative effects on pigeons are lacking for ivermectine and related drugs. Treatment should therefore be avoided unless a diagnosis has been confirmed by the veterinarian. The study referred to concerns many species of wild pigeons, but it is very likely that fenbendazole and albendazole will also harm racing pigeons at least as much. Especially in periods of stress such drugs can be very harmfull. Actually, there are reasons to believe that such drugs can trig many diseases like trichomoniasis, coccidiosis, adenovirus and salmonellosis. More generally, the use of any drug should be limited. Many of the more successful lofts do not use drugs alt all, unless a serous contagious diseases is diagnosed by the veterinarian. Simply because drugs generally do more harm than good on healthy pigeons. 20. Alex who? One of the all time greats without doubt eh! Yep. Yes Chris Hoy, and a few other jocks did themselves and Scotland and Gt. Britain very proud to say the least. Likewise in the World Games etc. too. Indeed it was the cyclist and rowers mainly that heralded the British flag. I was moved to tears of joys and excitement many times, right from that little Welsh Cyclist that stated it all off. Still so pleased when I see / hear even now. Like I was with our past Atheletes. Really loking forward to these Athelete European -though don't hold out too much sucess wise in actual winners and then of course the Commonwealth games. Yep may have a few more golds there. Yes land of Hope and Glory will no doubt ring out in abounds.
  21. Couldn't be for a more horrid bloke. It is in reality a shame, for there is very seldom, and shouldn't be any rasism in sport. We are trying hard - as is happening worldwide - even to educate supporters against it. Indeed many organised sporting concerns have, and are, taking action against offenders. Yet here is a self aclaimed bigotted racist being honoured and adored via it's supporters. I, like most of the worlds sporting faternity, believe, quite rightly in any fair minded sportsman minds, that sport has no place for racists. Let alone put on a peddistoll. Mind I can understand these supporters as they seldom , nigh ever, have anything to shout about, let alone support and get behind lol.... Yep behind is mostly where they are and have ever been lol
  22. Joyce and I would like to say thanks for all these kind wishes, Thanks.
