  3. I am a bit slow on the computer and it took me ages to compile my last post, in the meantime you posted the photograph - its very good. Your time and effort is very much appreciated, and your concern is heartening.
  4. Perhaps you could see which is the closest, and ask for advice. The Z ring issue is unfortunately a general one and likely to be a breeder that has since been transferred to the current owner, if the bird is not contained it does pose a problem though NW132 STOCKPORT F C Mrs Pat Marston, 87 Browning Road, Reddish, Stockport, Cheshire SK5 6JT. 5. There is a letter missing from the ring number GB06_ 08805 If you can find the letter, we can possibly find the club it was issued to - there are a few members on this board who are from Cheshire - including pigeonpete, who has just lost most of his young birds in the last few days
  6. It might be easy for you Henrik - but I can't catch a pigeon outside...! Entice it into an enclosed space with seed, don't hold on to its tail - as the feathers may well end up in your hand.. saw a stray in Whitby yesterday that someone had tried to catch - it didn't have a single tail feather ! Where are you from Maz and Andy ?
  7. Don't know if we're allowed or not, but forms have to be filled in from union that requires a witness. It does mean that we only pay for what is vaccinated, no left over vaccine.
  8. Would somebody explain why you shouldn't train in easterly winds - does it make a difference as to which part of the country you are in ? (ie east coast - they would be blown inland ? west coast out to sea ? ) Or what the temperatures are like ? I thought it was cold easterly winds I am to start the young bird training this week and have never done it before - don't want to make any mistakes
  9. Our club only charges 25p per bird for the vaccination, money well spent. Rather like measles jabs for babies - the epidemics only happen when people STOP the vaccinations. So perhaps there are so few outbreaks because of the compulsory vaccinations for paramoxyvirus.
  10. Westy, the torch is so that if he can't see the light from the chimney at the top end, he may see the light at the bottom and come out, sometimes the insides of chimneys in the loft area are zig - zagged and at an angle, the bird could be perched on one of the bricks

  12. Have you tried shining a very bright torch up the chimney ?
  13. Has Clockie got his wallpaper then ? ;D ;D ;D

    Vels. Today

    Brooklands - 262 miles, birds doing 1550 ish - unfortunately they weren't mine...! :B ??) :'(
  15. REDCAR 10.30 HAZY SUNSHINE, VERY LITTLE WIND, WARM
  16. Its hot and humid in Redcar just now - mainly cloudy. Good Luck to everybody
  17. This period increases to a minimum of 3 weeks if the pigeon is delayed beyond the 48 hours from release. These rules applied for inland racing aswell, we built four boxes especially for this in the shed long before the racing season started - and many people do comply with regulations - lead by example eh ?
  18. According to the Pigeon Management book - calcium deficiency seems tha most likely
  19. Reported a white one this morning and a pied yesterday both young birds, the colour doesn't make any difference to me - also reported a white old bird a few weeks ago - pretty but are they faster ? Needless to say they were all collected - nobody ever asks if you want the pretty ones do they ? Not that I would - no room at the inn (though it feels like a "drop - in centre " for strays at the moment) Personally I don't think it matters what the colour is, very few people report birds - even with wing stamps and phone number rings, its disheartening.
  20. GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ARE SENDING
  21. UPDATE The majority of advice was no change for shorter channel race - and this was the decision made. First bird back was 3rd club ( beaten into third by 0.1ypm :'( ) We were delighted ;D ;D ;D Will be sending 1 of the birds to longer channel race 24th July ;D
  22. Ours were nest building the other day and found all sorts of manky nails and screws in the garden to "build" with. They now have straw....
  23. 4 sent to Lille - almost 317 miles, all back - these were liberated relatively late - 9.40am and homed at 16.10 - or atleast the first one did. Wonder if the visibilty was poor at your lib time Clockman and Birdman4610, there's still a chance they will home.
  24. That's excellent news Mark - what a good friend you have. Hope all goes well.
  25. T_T , 13,000 UNC Birds should be heading in your direction in next few minutes - can you give update on birds/weather and visibilty please ?
