  1. So long as you have the main part of this trap inside the loft and have the landing board on the outside they are legal,if you see what I mean.
  2. Do the SHU rules state that the bird as to be in the loft to be clocked,RPRA says the antennae as to be but no mention of the bird.
  3. I take it you didnt have a lot of success with them then.
  4. It seems to me that a lot of problems are arising with the way people are reading the rule about the ETS pads,I,m not sure what the actual wording is in the SHU but in the RPRA to me it is quite straightforward, the antennae of the ETS must be fitted within the confines of the loft or trapping systems not underneath external landing boards.no mention about bob wires,no mention about the bird not being able to fly back out or not after it as been clocked.I have 3 differant traps,1 purchased new from murray and mills,2 a speed trap with bay that I have converted,3 a home made one,all have the same things in commom, the antennaes are all within the confines of the trap or loft, they all have bob wires after the antennae and the bird can fly back up onto the house if it wants after is has been clocked or go through the bobs further into the loft, and the last thing THEY ARE ALL WITHIN THE RULES OF THE RPRA.
  5. Good ventilation yes but no need for a clean loft, seen some lofts with droppings a foot high under the perches and these guys had birds in there that had won 10 firsts, Wouldnt be bothered wether the guy had raced or not he could have some of the best breeders around. Buyings of winners guarentees nothing. Agree 100% with Whitrnight.
  6. Well out of the first four tips I would only agree with 1 1/2 of them.

    RP

    Same here.
  8. I have also known this to happen with Unlkon BUT there is supposed to be no dead areas on the pad,its like a lot of things that are not supposed to happen but they do.
  9. Sorry Ian but according to Ray Knight there are no dead areas on the Unikon pads,if you get a ets ring and run it all over the pad you will find that it will register on every part of the pad,I believe the idea of having tunnels for your birds to walk down are now not neccessary and would certainly slow them down, the part that the birds walk over needs to be as open as possible.
  10. Go to pigeon-ets.com click on downloads then it will show you how to update your club station, then after that you can either update the champ or professional depending on which ones you have,BE SURE TO PRESS BACKUP FIRST BEFORE YOU UPDATE THE CLUB SYSTEM.
  11. Why put the hens back anyway, personally I take the youngsters and hens away at the same time, leave the hens in with the youngsters to carry on feeding them just to make sure they are o.k.and leave the cocks on their own from now on,the next time I would let the cocks see the hens would be when they return from their first training toss, dont be to impatient though to start training if they are all yearlings as its a long season and if you push them to soon they will be no good later on,what distance did you think of sending them to in their first year.
  12. Do you have differant rules in Scotland than we do in the RPRA as personally I cannot see any problem at all with the RPRA ruling it seems straight forward enough to me.
  13. Just make sure when you fit them on the loft the main part of the trap is inside the loft, the only part that is outside is the landing board,so when you fold that up it is all flush with the front of the loft, then its all legal with RPRA rules dont know about any other unions.
  14. Is this SHU rules because there is nowhere in the RPRA RULES that says the bird cant fly off after it is clocked. The bird doesn,t have to be within the confines of the loft the ets pad does (RPRA RULES),the bob wires are perfectly legal where they are (RPRA RULES),SHU might be completly differant.
  15. I believe the only part of the trap that is outside the loft is the hinged landing boord so the part which the ETS pad slides into is actually within the confines of the loft.
  16. Ian you say that the two must not be mixed, but you say Gem do it with Strike, are you saying that the Gem people have got it seriously wrong, somehow I cant see that.
