  1. I'd be sure to treat for canker first as there are many forms of canker and the cheesey white spots are not as common as they used to be but that's almost certainly what it is.
  2. You aint far off the mark pal. Well said...........
  3. Every pigeon in my pen has a pedigree it's just that we only have 4 out of forty that are not crossed. Bin the bloody pedigree's. Distance sorts 'em out.
  4. Foreign rings or pedigree's sell pigeons. We have birds that have done well at 5/600 mile but they are all crossbred. What would they be worth? Bugger all I would think. 2nd sec 8th sec 13th sec 21st sec MNFC , NFC and NRCC. Tell you what though we had Dutch and Belgian imports last year. Not here now.
  5. Doome and gloom !!!!!!!!!!!!!! It aint just our sport that's having problems. Yesterday I played rugger. When I was young and fit we ran six sides. Now we run three. I know of several other clubs in Warwickshire that are in the same situation. A couple of years ago we went to malory park race track on boxing day. One of the anouncers on the PA, was moaning about the lack of new starters coming into motorsport. Is it money time or what, For me all I think we can do is move with the times. Fistly bring in ETS so people on shifts or unable to be at home can compete. Second club boundaries should not overlap and neither should fed boundaries. Third no-body should be refused membership if they've not been susspended. Clubs keep picking and chooseing who they want to race against and it can't be right.

    NFC

That sounds about right to me. My son and me amongst them. Tiz all about providing a service. Not milking a cash cow.
  7. Threw the pedigree's in the bin put every bird down the road till we had a quarter left same with young birds then two years later we had 2 out of 3 at 634 miles and 21st sec 280th NFC to boot. We aint top flyers but I don't know anyone round here who can get 'em at 500 miles + better than us Health comes first though
  8. Always give live yoghurt and cider vinegar after first young bird race.
  9. Well I've aquired a large quantity of magnetite for free. All I can say is the birds do seem to like it. I often think the birds themselves seem to know what they require. The Magnetite I have was imported from scandinavia for building a new radiology department at a hospital. I have my best results at 500 miles + and know we will get 'em. The birds like it so they can have it. It cost me nothing so tiz worth a try. Then I am lucky I work for one of the largest companies in the world for building materials. Tiz also how my birds get trained 50/60 miles any direction.
  10. Well done mate looks like all is well so far. Good hatch and you've the foundation to a good season
  11. Not so mad 400miles of water from Lerwick to Norfolk
  12. going to bed with more 500milers in the pen than last year
  13. No clear eggs here but then we don't normaly pair till mid March
  14. Have to say Mick, your photo doesn't do the site justice. When I saw the site I thought how it looked perfect. and what a shame we don't go there. Why did you climb all those steps to take a photo of your feet were they sore.
  15. Got to agree entirely once they come to me they gotta prove themselvs and the pedigree's never come out again
  16. They always seem rusty first toss of the year. Taking some time with the initial first toss. Don't take a chance. Give 'em a couple or three chucks at ten mile in nice weather. If they're home before you no problem. Mine went 500ml one way and 300ml the other in the summer. I wouldn't take 'em 30ml any direction at this time of year, not without some preparation first.

I know there's a big gap in my loft where one cock is missing. If he were reported where he was last let go I'd fetch him personaly. I have his sons daughters mother and brother. It was only the one cock that scored at Tarbes and Perth. They aint all rubbish that go missing. If he came back he'd go straight back in the pen.
  19. Sadly no ETS in England yet people still want to live in the dark ages
  20. Might be worth bringing some stock back. Top lofts.
  21. Remember years back the then Coalville fed held at Lerwick. The convoyer was breaking up coal and bricks to get the birds some minerals. Can't say how long held for but returns were good
  22. Top the section with either the BBC or BICC or failing that to time in from Palamos
  23. No blacks either Black x Red = ?????????????????? I know the answer 2nd sec 20th open.......................
  24. Well I have to agree Rose if they don't listen what's the point.
