  1. Cost 'em my membership anyway
  2. Oh for the chance to choose. Round here no north rd clubs, and my Tarbes pigeon was the most westerly pigeon on the NRCC Perth result.

OK so you may have bought a load of old rubbish. In reality there are thousands of rubbish birds for sale every week or maybe they're all potential winners. Who knows? What I do know is, I've spent too much of my hard earned, to believe anybody. Every bird I bring in is treated as rubbish. The pedigree goes in the draw and down the road they go, or maybe there offspring go. If you end up with just two left you might have found what you are looking for. Every bird needs to be fully tested. Any breeders with no young left need to be dissposed of. Good birds treated badly get ill and will show signs of stress (fret marks) Only time will tell if they may breed or race. My best friend always sorts them for me. He takes 'em down the road far and often. He is of course a baskett. In the spring I will bring in 6/10 youngsters and if they aint as good as those I have already, they'll be gone at seasons end.
  4. Any way the Rugby Cement lorry they went on was going 40/60mls would be the target any direction North west, South east, or South west but we have another plant near S*expletive removed*horpe so that is the only way they don't go. Trained this way as babbies, but only raced south rd till 2 year olds
  5. Gotta agree Roland ours have been Perth 13th sec and then Bordeaux 8th sec. 7 from 8 out of Perth never trained North and flew Wincanton Newton Abbott, Yelverton then into Perth.
  6. Yes. You can do it but the road will be full of pitfalls. It will be a long time before you're as successful as "rose" perhaps. Aim for the stars you might reach the moon. You will need bigger numbers though. Bigger losses too. I hope you've got the bottle. Good luck.........
  7. Sad tale pecked. I had a hen die in my hands, and knew then I'd have to learn how to do the dirty deed. Not pleasant but then ?????????????
  8. I recon we should have a clock at the club HQ and when you get your bird take the rubber off and run to the HQ. EASY aint it. Or have times changed?
  9. TonyC is probbably right cocci is a secondary infection. Worms would be my next step.
  10. Wonder if any one else has been racing today?????

Got to agree Mike. Clive Yates would be the man for me. Raced on a regular bassis. Not just housed in a big stud, full of untested pigeons.
  12. All power to to your elbow Mick. You're a credit to the NFC coming on here and giving your views. However with bird flu, and the heat we've had, maybe a radical change maybe called for.

    dose vet

Our club sec does everybody's. Can't say how much but off the top of me 'ed about 20p a bird.
  14. Looks great Hyacinth. Who's the errrrr blonde?????????
  15. I think if you're gonna use corrugated sheets, it might be an idea to paint the top white, to reflect the heat.
  16. Mick my point was lib at sea because of the heat, but you never know. I can't help but think, this bird flu aint going away. My main gripe with the NFC is not doing what they advertise. I know it's been a nightmare but, if we publish North rd and Sennon Cove then that's where we should go .
  17. Looks like competition is hotting up in section C NFC Old hens. After extending the cut off for entries, another member has enterd two birds making a real race of it. It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.........
  18. Last year I propposed what became the MNFC race program. Falaise, Alencon,Tours, and Bergerac. Having just returned from Royan, and the heat we had in June/July, I can't help but wonder if racing from a boat may be a good idea after all. You wont get a "fair" race program but we might just have to start considering the heat, maybe? Sorry Rose but is food for thought.
  19. Richard there will be fanciers in a similar situation to you, if it was Sennon Cove, however geographicaly Cornwall is very narrow and this would lesson the effect somewhat. Oh and by the way I am one of those "Midlands" fanciers. We don't all want to go "Down the middle"
  20. The money I've wasted on "good" pigeons the two best hens we have are two hens that came in as stray young birds in 2000, must have been a good year though cos not had any like it since.
  21. Sparrowhawks regularly come along the hedge behind our pen. However we aint had a strike yet, in six years of living here. Also I always leave the pen open while the birds exercise. Can't guarantee you'll be ok but touch wood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. As a south roader. I paid for my son to join NFC when they published a North rd program. 540mls Lerwick to me. Before we were allowed into France, our birds went Wincanton. Newton Abbott. Yelverton. Then into NRCC Perth. A cock that took 21st sec Tarbes last year took 13th sec Perth. Returns 7 from 8. At the very least I feel the NFC should have gone to Sennon Cove, as published. Better still Ireland. Looking at the numbers that have gone/going to Chale this is no way to make money. 1515 young birds 282 old hens. Last year I voted to increase subs and put birdage up. This year I shall resign. As a matter of interest if you are the one person who sent one old hen in section C. Make sure you clock it as you will win the section.
  23. Mike young had chocolate in his Spangles. Got 'em here.
